Restraining plug
A method for assembling a plug assembly for plugging one or more ports of a gas turbine engine including that a first arm is inserted into a sheath through-passage of a sheath. The method includes a second arm is inserted into the sheath through-passage of the sheath. The method further includes a separating mechanism is inserted into the sheath through-passage between the first arm and the second arm, a biasing mechanism is installed, and a top housing is slid over the biasing mechanism such that the biasing mechanism is located in a cavity defined within the top housing. The biasing mechanism being configured to apply a force to the first arm and the second arm when the biasing mechanism is located in the cavity. The method may also include that the top housing is secured together with the sheath.
MAINTENANCE METHOD FOR STEAM TURBINE AND STEAM TURBINE
A maintenance method for a steam turbine including a rotor, a casing for accommodating the rotor, and a bearing box for accommodating a bearing which supports the rotor includes: a step of installing an expansion-and-contraction member below the rotor by using an upward facing flat surface disposed between the casing and the bearing box in an axial direction; and a step of pushing up the rotor upward by the expansion-and-contraction member.
Bypass propulsion unit, comprising a thrust reverser with movable cascades
A turbofan propulsion assembly includes a thrust reverser with movable flaps. The propulsion assembly further includes an engine and a nacelle surrounding the engine, and the nacelle includes a thrust reverser with sliding cowls and thrust reverser flaps, and an inner structure. The portion of the inner structure positioned perpendicular to the thrust reverser flaps includes two halves that can open toward the exterior of the nacelle cowls.
Methods of cleaning a component within a turbine engine
A method of cleaning a component within a turbine that includes disassembling the turbine engine to provide a flow path to an interior passageway of the component from an access point. The component has coked hydrocarbons formed thereon. The method further includes discharging a flow of cleaning solution towards the interior passageway from the access point, wherein the cleaning solution is configured to remove the coked hydrocarbons from the component.
Method for monitoring the spark plugs of a turboshaft engine using a vibration measurement
A method for monitoring an aircraft turboshaft engine including a vibration sensor capable of outputting a vibration signal and a spark plug. The method includes, based on the vibration signal output by the vibration sensor, a step of determining a level of vibration of the turboshaft engine as well as a step of determining an indicator of spark plug wear.
Turbine system with particulate presence and accumulation model for particulate ingress detection
A control system for turbine systems configured to utilize an intelligent model of particulate presence and accumulation within turbine systems to address engine maintenance, erosion, corrosion, and parts failure mitigation is disclosed. The control system may build an intelligent model of fluid flow based on the data value measured by at least one sensor and based on a database of known data values to provide an estimation of amount of ingress of air intake particles into the turbine system, fouling within the turbine system, erosion of at least a portion of the turbine system, and performance degradation rate of the turbine system.
HOUSING FOR A ROTOR OF AN ENGINE
A housing for a rotor of an engine is provided. The housing forms an interior space for accommodating the rotor that is defined by a housing wall and the housing wall (W) circumferentially surrounds the rotor that is accommodated inside the housing. The housing has at least one service opening which is provided in the housing wall for maintenance and/or repair work and through which the interior space is accessible from the outside. The service opening is provided in the area of two facing flange sections of the housing, wherein the service opening is closed by at least one closure part that is received at least partially inside a gap formed between the facing flange sections and fixated therein in a releasable manner.
CUSTOMIZED BLEND LIMIT FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINE AIRFOILS
A method of developing a suggested blend repair to an airfoil includes the steps of: (a) storing history with regard to a particular airfoil in a particular engine; (b) taking information with regard to new damage to the particular airfoil; (c) reaching an initial blend recommendation based upon step (b); (d) assessing whether the initial blend recommendation of step (c) would be appropriate to repair the new damage based upon a consideration of steps (a)-(c); and (e) reporting a final blend recommendation. An airfoil repair recommendation system is also disclosed.
GAS TURBINE ENGINE CASE FIXTURE ASSEMBLY WITH PLATFORM ADAPTOR
A fixture assembly includes a support stand, a support platform and a platform adaptor. The support platform is rotatably coupled to the support stand and rotatable about an axis. The support platform extends circumferentially about a centerline angularly offset from the axis. The support platform extends longitudinally along the centerline to a platform top surface. The platform adaptor is disposed on the platform top surface and attached to the support platform. The platform adaptor includes a case receptacle formed by an adaptor top surface and an adaptor shoulder surface. The platform adaptor extends longitudinally along the centerline to the adaptor top surface where the adaptor top surface is configured to longitudinally engage and support the case. The platform adaptor extends radially relative to the centerline to the adaptor shoulder surface where the adaptor shoulder surface is configured to radially engage and position the case on the adaptor top surface.
Systems and methods of servicing equipment
A robotic assembly for servicing equipment, the robotic assembly including an area configured to receive components associated with a workscope of the equipment; an environmental capture device configured to capture information associated with an environment in which the robotic assembly is disposed; and one or more computing devices configured to: locate the equipment in the environment; autonomously navigate the robotic assembly through the environment to the equipment; and autonomously adjust a position of the robotic assembly in response to the workscope.
