Method for repairing an upstream rail of a turbine engine turbine casing
An upstream rail of a turbine engine turbine casing, which includes a casing body extending along a longitudinal axis, includes a base including a radial face, extending substantially radially from the casing body, a plate including an upper face, extending substantially along the longitudinal axis, a connection portion between the base and the plate, including a concave face connecting the radial and upper faces, the concave and radial faces extending on either side of an edge. The upstream rail is repaired through a method including covering a surface with a solder, the surface including the upper and concave faces such that the solder extends until the edge, and machining the covered surface, in a single action, in a direction toward the radial face, so as to reshape the surface, wherein the machining of the covered surface is performed on a portion of the radial face.
AEROFOIL SHAPING METHOD
A method for shaping an aerofoil by: (a) defining an aerofoil having a nominal shape, the nominal shape defined by; a leading edge, a trailing edge, a root and a tip, a span extending from the root to the tip, a pressure surface and a suction surface extending from the leading edge to the trailing edge; a nominal camber line extending from the leading edge to the trailing edge; (b) defining an edge region on one of the pressure and/or suction surface which extends distance of at least 0.1% but no more than 10% of the camber line length from one of the leading edge or the trailing edge of the aerofoil; and (c) adapting the shape of the pressure and/or suction surface within the edge region such that the edge region of the aerofoil achieves an asymmetric profile with respect to the nominal camber line.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USING A TOOL ASSEMBLY
A system and method of using a tool assembly is provided. The system includes a body, a first camera and a second camera fixed to the body, and a controller. The controller is configured to receive data indicative of images of a reference feature from the first camera, determine data indicative of a first spatial position of the first camera based at least in part on the received data indicative of the images of the reference feature, and determine data indicative of a second spatial position of the second camera based on the first spatial position, a known spatial relationship between the first location and the second location, or both. Further, the controller may be configured to receive data indicative of images of a target feature using the second camera, derive dimensions of the target feature based on the images, and generate a three-dimensional representation of the target feature.
Superalloy part and method of processing
A method for repairing a part and the resulting is disclosed. The method includes positioning a plug having an inner braze element coupled thereto into a cavity defined by an internal surface of a component. The cavity has a circular cross-section at the external surface of the component. The plug completely fills the circular cross-section and the inner braze element is within the cavity. A braze paste is positioned at least partially around the plug at the external surface. The component is positioned such that the inner braze element is above the plug. The component is subjected to a thermal cycle to melt the inner braze element around the plug, completely sealing the cavity by forming a metallurgical bond with the plug and the internal surface of the component. During the thermal cycle the braze paste is melted to form a metallurgical bond with the plug and external surface.
Turbine nozzle assembly
A turbine nozzle assembly for use in a turbine engine is provided. The assembly includes an inner barrel and a turbine nozzle support ring. The inner barrel has a forward end and an aft end. The turbine nozzle support ring includes an annular body that defines a forward end, an opposite aft end, an inner surface, and an opposite outer portion. The forward end of the annular body is coupled to the aft end of the inner barrel. The annular body includes a first arcuate segment and a second arcuate segment removably coupled to the first arcuate segment. The first arcuate segment has a first arcuate length and the second arcuate segment has a second arcuate length. The second arcuate length is shorter than the first arcuate length.
Component repair system and method
A method of repairing a component of a gas turbine engine in situ, wherein the component includes a deposit, includes directing a flow of gas, which may be an oxygen-containing gas, to the deposit of the component; and heating the component including the deposit while the component is installed in the gas turbine engine and for a duration sufficient to substantially remove the deposit.
Blade fragment barrier for aircraft engine inlet cowl
A barrier device is provided for an inlet cowl for an aircraft engine including an inner barrel circumferentially surrounding an opening in the inlet cowl formed along an axis of rotation of the aircraft engine, through which air passes to the aircraft engine, the inner barrel including a face sheet disposed on a radially inward side of the inner barrel relative to the axis. The barrier device includes a containment doubler of the inner barrel, disposed on a radially outward side of the inner barrel, and a blade fragment barrier including one or more strips disposed between the containment doubler and the face sheet, so as to extend circumferentially at least partially around the opening and to occupy a radial distance between the containment doubler and the face sheet.
Fan blade with intrinsic damping characteristics
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture corresponding to a fan blade with intrinsic damping characteristics are disclosed. An example fan blade comprises an exterior body including a first side and a second side; a first hairpin structure in contact with (a) the first side of the exterior body and (b) the second side of the exterior body; and a second hairpin structure in contact with (a) the first side and (b) the second side, wherein the first hairpin structure and the second hairpin structure are made from different materials.
TORQUE LOADING IN COMPONENT STACK ASSEMBLY
According to an aspect, a system includes a memory system configured to store a plurality of instructions and a processing system. The processing system is configured to communicate with the memory system and execute the instructions that result in determining an initial torque applied to a component stack, determining an assembly torque and an angle of turn applied to the component stack after the initial torque is applied, and determining a friction value associated with the component stack. Execution of the instructions further result in determining a stack load of the component stack based on the friction value, the assembly torque, and the angle of turn, and outputting an indicator of the stack load.
