GEARED ARCHITECTURE FOR HIGH SPEED AND SMALL VOLUME FAN DRIVE TURBINE
A turbofan engine includes a propulsor section that has a propulsor shaft in driving engagement with a propulsor. An epicyclic gear system has a gear mesh lateral stiffness and a gear mesh transverse stiffness. A gear system input defines a gear system input lateral stiffness and a gear system input transverse stiffness. The gear system input lateral stiffness is less than 5% of the gear mesh lateral stiffness. A first turbine section rotates at a first speed, and a second turbine rotates at a second speed that is faster than the first speed. A first performance quantity is defined as the product of the first speed squared and the first area of the first turbine, a second performance quantity is defined as the product of the second speed squared and the second area of the second turbine, and a performance quantity ratio is between 0.5 and 1.5.
Combined heat and power system
A combined heat and power system comprises a shaft (4), a compressor (6) coupled to the shaft to compress intake gas to form compressed gas; a recuperator (10) to heat the compressed gas to form heated compressed gas; a combustor (12) to combust a fuel and the heated compressed gas to form combustion gas; a turbine (8) coupled to the shaft to expand the combustion gas to form exhaust gas; a load (24) coupled to the shaft; an exhaust outlet (18) to expel the exhaust gas to a heater for heating a fluid based on heat from the exhaust gas; a recuperator channel (28) providing a path for the exhaust gas to flow from the turbine to the exhaust outlet through the recuperator; and a bypass channel (22) providing a path for the exhaust gas to flow from the turbine to the exhaust outlet bypassing the recuperator.
Feedforward control of a fuel supply circuit of a turbomachine
A fuel supply system for a turbomachine, comprising a fuel circuit comprising pressurizer at the output of the circuit, a pump arranged to send into the circuit a fuel flow rate which is an increasing function of the rotational speed of a shaft of the pump, and a control circuit arranged to control the device to comply with a flow rate setpoint at the output of the fuel circuit. The system further comprises a feedforward corrector circuit configured to calculate an increment of the flow rate setpoint as a function of the engine speed of the turbomachine and of a variation in the engine speed of the turbomachine, and to add this increment to the flow rate setpoint. A method of regulating the pump is also described.
Compressor driveshaft assembly and compressor including same
A compressor system includes a compressor housing and a driveshaft rotatably supported within the compressor housing. The compressor system further includes an impeller that imparts kinetic energy to incoming refrigerant gas upon rotation of the driveshaft, a thrust disk coupled to the driveshaft, and a bearing assembly mounted to the compressor housing. The impeller includes an impeller bore having an inner surface, and the thrust disk includes an outer disk and a hub. The bearing assembly rotatably supports the outer disk of the thrust disk. The hub is disposed within the impeller bore, and includes a hub outer surface in contact with the inner surface of the impeller bore. A first contact force between the hub outer surface and the inner surface of the impeller bore increases with increased rotational speed of the driveshaft.
Power transmission system and gas turbine engine comprising the same
A power transmission system includes a shaft, a stator disposed within the shaft and substantially concentric with the shaft; and at least one supporting element positioned between the stator and the shaft and configured to support the shaft on the stator to reduce a vibration of the shaft and allow the shaft to rotate relative to the stator. A gas turbine engine including the power transmission system is also described.
ASSEMBLY STRUCTURE OF A MULTI-STAGE IMPELLER AND WHEEL HOUSING IN A SUBMERSIBLE PUMP
An assembly structure of a multi-stage impeller and wheel housing for use in a submersible pump that includes a connecting seat having a drainage channel, shaft, intermediate unit which has a wheel housing, inner guide cover, and impeller. The wheel housing has a central partition plate, with an upper ring housing and lower ring canopy extending upward and downward, respectively, along the perimeter of the central partition plate. The intermediate unit has the upper ring housing connected to the canopy of the connecting seat by a swivel snap structure. A bottom unit has a bottom impeller and bottom wheel housing, which has a water suction port, a bottom plate and a bottom ring housing that extends upward along the perimeter of the bottom plate. A bottom ring canopy of an intermediate unit is connected by a rotating snap structure, and the bottom ring housing is pressed by a sealing ring.
Labyrinth seal with variable seal clearance
A labyrinth seal, has: rotating and static components rotatable relative to one another relative to a central axis, the rotating component securable to a shaft via a tight fit engagement at an engagement location on the rotating component, the static component securable to a housing; teeth protruding from one of the rotating and static components towards a seal land defined by the other one of the rotating and static components; and clearances between the teeth and the seal land, a first clearance of the clearances greater than a second clearance of the clearances, the first clearance located closer to the engagement location of the rotating component than the second clearance.
PRESSURIZED AIRFLOW TO ROTATE COMPRESSOR DURING ENGINE SHUTDOWN
A gas turbine engine includes a compressor section with a compressor rotor shaft assembly including a plurality of compressor rotors longitudinally spaced apart from each other via respective ones of a plurality of shaft sections of a rotor shaft, each compressor rotor of the plurality of compressor rotors having a plurality of rotor vanes extending radially outward therefrom and being circumferentially spaced about the compressor rotor. A stator shroud assembly has a stator shroud casing surrounding the compressor rotor shaft assembly, a compressor flow passage being defined between the compressor rotor shaft assembly and the stator shroud casing. A pressurized air source generates a flow of pressurized air to be provided to the compressor section, and a plurality of pressurized airflow nozzles are connected with the pressurized air source and provide the flow of pressurized air into the compressor flow passage to cause the compressor rotor shaft assembly to rotate.

A gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a fan shaft configured to drive a fan, a support configured to support at least a portion of the fan shaft, the support defining a support transverse stiffness and a support lateral stiffness, a gear system coupled to the fan shaft, and a flexible support configured to at least partially support the gear system. The flexible support defines a flexible support transverse stiffness with respect to the support transverse stiffness and a flexible support lateral stiffness with respect to the support lateral stiffness. The input defines an input transverse stiffness with respect to the support transverse stiffness and an input lateral stiffness with respect to the support lateral stiffness.
