HIGH TEMPERATURE FLANGE JOINT, EXHAUST DIFFUSER AND METHOD FOR COUPLING TWO COMPONENTS IN A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A high temperature flange joint in a gas turbine engine includes a first flange formed on a first component abutting a second flange formed on a second component. The flange joint includes multiple adjacently spaced bolt connections. Each bolt connection includes a first spacer plate bearing against the first flange and a second spacer plate bearing against the second flange. First and second lock washers are provided that bear against the first and second spacer plates respectively. A bolt is inserted through the first and second flanges, the first and second spacer plates and the first and second lock washers. The bolt is preloaded to clamp the first flange to the second flange. Each spacer plate has a respective thickness and is sized to enhance a bearing surface in contact with the respective flange. Thereby, a bolt preload is maintained during operation of the gas turbine engine.
Seal runner and method
The contact seal assembly for a shaft of a gas turbine engine includes a carbon seal mounted in a fixed position within a seal housing, and an annular seal runner adapted to be connected to the shaft of the gas turbine engine and rotatable relative to the carbon ring segments. The seal runner is disposed adjacent to and radially inwardly from the carbon ring segments to form a contact interface between the seal runner and the carbon ring segments which forms a substantially fluid tight seal. The seal runner includes a coolant scoop disposed in a cavity defined by the seal housing, a first slinger disposed between the coolant scoop and the contact interface, a second slinger disposed between the first slinger and the contact interface, and a coolant collector groove disposed between the first slinger and the second slinger.
DETACHMENT MECHANISM FOR FAN
A detachment mechanism for a fan is provided for being adapted for a fan structure, the fan structure includes a rotating axle and a blade assembly, the blade assembly is sleeved on the rotating axle, and the detachment mechanism for the fan includes a detachment threaded hole. The detachment threaded hole is configured for a detachment bolt to be rotatably screwed therewith, the detachment threaded hole penetrates through the detachment mechanism for the fan, and a part of the rotating axle is exposed from an opening area of the detachment threaded hole.

Variable flow rate valve mechanism and turbocharger
A variable flow rate valve mechanism includes a valve including a valve body and a valve shaft projecting from the valve body, a lock member fixed to the valve shaft at a position axially spaced from the valve body, an attachment member disposed between the valve body and the lock member and holding the valve together with the lock member, and a spring washer disposed between the lock member and the attachment member or between the attachment member and the valve body, and contacting the lock member or the valve body and the attachment member to impart an elastic force to the attachment member. A first member or a second member has an inner face, the inner face facing radially inward and facing an outer peripheral portion of the spring washer.
Epicyclic gear train
A turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a fan shaft, at least one tapered bearing mounted on the fan shaft, the fan shaft including at least one passage extending in a direction having at least a radial component, and adjacent the at least one tapered bearing, a fan mounted for rotation on the at least one tapered bearing. An epicyclic gear train is coupled to drive the fan, the epicyclic gear train including a carrier supporting intermediate gears that mesh with a sun gear, and a ring gear surrounding and meshing with the intermediate gears, wherein the epicyclic gear train defines a gear reduction ratio of greater than or equal to 2.3. A turbine section is coupled to drive the fan through the epicyclic gear train, the turbine section having a fan drive turbine that includes a pressure ratio that is greater than 5. The fan includes a pressure ratio that is less than 1.45, and the fan has a bypass ratio of greater than ten (10).
Exhaust diffuser strut for reducing flow separation
A strut provided in an exhaust diffuser and having an airfoil-shaped cross-section is provided. The strut may include a cut portion configured to be formed in a trailing edge in a span direction. The cut portion is configured to provide a stepped portion in at least a portion of the trailing edge.

A seal assembly includes a rotatable shaft and a stationary housing circumscribing the shaft to form radially inner and radially outer boundaries of a seal cavity and a buffer cavity adjacent to the seal cavity. A retention member engaging the housing within the seal cavity includes an end plate extending radially at the axial boundary between the seal and buffer cavities and a protrusion extending from the end plate into the buffer cavity.
EPICYCLIC GEAR TRAIN
A gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a propulsor section including a propulsor supported on a propulsor shaft, a turbine section including a turbine shaft, a compressor section having a plurality of compressor hubs with blades driven by the turbine shaft about an engine axis, and an epicyclic gear train interconnecting the propulsor shaft and the turbine shaft. The epicyclic gear train includes a sun gear coupled to the turbine shaft, intermediary gears arranged circumferentially about and meshing with the sun gear, a carrier and a ring gear including first and second portions. The first and second portions have axially opposed faces abutting one another at a radial interface.
