Structures are formed in a shape protruding from a wing surface, and a plurality of riblets are formed in a shape depressed from the wing surface. A first cross section obtained by cutting the structure by a flat face that is parallel to a flow and perpendicularly intersects with the wing surface has an inclined side that extends from a point on the wing surface to a top that is a point apart from the wing surface . An inter-structure flow channel is formed between two adjacent structures among the plurality of structures. The area of a face in one of the two structures and the area of a face in the other structure with which a fluid flowing in the inter-structure flow channel comes into contact are different from each other. Accordingly, peeling of the flow can be suppressed and the frictional resistance of the flow can be decreased.

A member may have a first major surface and a second major surface. The first major surface may define a plurality of riblets that may extend in the direction of a primary flow. The member may form an array of conduits that extend from an entrance port at the second major surface to an exit port at the first major surface. Each of the exit ports may intersect two or more riblets. Each of the exit ports may intersect a riblet that intersect another of the exit ports.

Gas turbine engines with airfoils having improved dust tolerance

An airfoil for a gas turbine engine includes a first side wall; a second side wall joined to the first side wall at a leading edge and a trailing edge; and an internal cooling system arranged within the first and second side walls configured to direct cooling air through and out of the airfoil. The internal cooling system has a first cooling circuit that includes an acceleration channel generally extending in a radial outward direction. A first section of the acceleration channel decreases in cross-sectional area along the radial outward direction such that the cooling air is accelerated through the first section of the acceleration channel. The first cooling circuit further includes a trailing edge chamber fluidly coupled to receive at least a portion of the cooling air from the acceleration channel and extending generally in a chordwise aft direction from the acceleration channel to the trailing edge.

ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF A PART FOR AN AIRCRAFT PROPULSION UNIT NACELLE

A method for additively manufacturing a part of a nacelle of an aircraft propulsion unit such as an exhaust conduit portion a step of depositing a compound including a TiAl-based powdery intermetallic alloy and consolidating the compound by sintering, without melting the compound.

A stator vane for a gas turbine engine includes a first platform and a second platform radially spaced apart from one another. The first and second airfoils are circumferentially spaced from one another and interconnect the first and second platforms. The first platform has a gas path side facing the airfoils and a non-gas path side opposite the gas path side. A circumferentially extending rail provided on the first platform extends radially outward from the gas path side to the non-gas path side to form a pocket on the non-gas path side between the first platform and the rail. A reinforcement is arranged in the pocket and joins the first platform and the rail. The reinforcement includes a variable thickness in the circumferential direction and is arranged generally centrally between the first and second airfoils.
