NARROW, HIGH PERFORMANCE COLLECTOR DESIGN
20230030721 · 2023-02-02 · ·

An exhaust system of a turbine typically includes an exhaust collector that turns the axial flow of exhaust, output by the turbine, radially outward, with the intent of diverting the flow up an exhaust stack. However, the width of the exhaust collector may be limited by packaging engineering, which can decrease the efficiency of the exhaust system. Accordingly, an exhaust collector is disclosed that utilizes non-cylindrical conical shapes in an exhaust diffuser to maximize volume and reduce velocity in the exhaust collector, to compensate for the decrease in efficiency caused by a reduced width of the exhaust collector.

Blade of a turbo machine

A blade of a turbo machine, having a blade leaf, with a flow leading edge, a flow trailing edge, and flow conducting surfaces, and a cooling passage integrated in the blade leaf. In the region of the blade leaf cooling passage portions extend substantially in the radial direction. Adjacent cooling passage portions merge into one another via a diversion passage portion having a material web extending between the adjacent cooling passage portions. The respective material web ends in the region of the respective diversion passage portion. The respective material web has a defined axial width between the respective adjacent cooling passage portions and the respective material web in the region of the respective diversion passage portion has a material thickening enlarging the axial width by at least 20%.

WAVY TILTING OF PLATFORMS AT THE ROTOR-STATOR GAPS IN A TURBINE ENGINE COMPRESSOR

A set of compression stage(s) of a turbomachine, forming an annular fluid passage and comprising at least one annular stator platform and/or at least one annular rotor platform having an outer longitudinal profile inclined (I.sub.Si/I.sub.Ri) inwards and upstream with respect to a nominal profile of the fluid stream, where the inclination (I.sub.Si/I.sub.Ri) of the outer longitudinal profile of the or each of the annular platforms, relative to the nominal profile of the fluid stream, oscillates along the circumference of the annular platform or platforms, between a maximum value in front of the blades of the annular platform and a minimum value between each pair of adjacent blades of the annular platform.

A blower has a blower housing of clamshell construction, including two housing members having a scroll back wall molded with radial draft, an impeller and a motor within the housing, and a static tap connected to the housing. The impeller has a backplate with a backplate back surface region of substantially the same radially converging shape as that of a front surface region of the scroll back wall formed by the radial draft, providing a substantially uniform axial gap between the backplate back surface region and the scroll back wall. The impeller has a ring connected by a skirt to the back plate to define a stepped area behind the ring. The impeller includes impeller blades extending forwardly from the impeller backplate and the ring and back fins extending rearwardly from the ring. The blower has a scroll width of about twice an impeller exhaust width.

Compressor bleed port structure

A compressor bleed port apparatus includes: a compressor shroud which defines a boundary between a primary flowpath and a plenum; a bleed port including one or more apertures passing through the compressor shroud, each of the one or more apertures having an inlet communicating with the primary flowpath and an outlet communicating with the plenum, and extending along a respective centerline. Each of the one or more apertures is bounded by sidewalls, and includes a diffuser section in which the sidewalls diverge from each other in a downstream direction; A diffusing angle between the sidewalls varies over the length of the diffuser section.

LIGHT WEIGHT FAN CASING CONFIGURATIONS FOR ENERGY ABSORPTION

Light weight fan casing configurations for energy absorption are disclosed herein. An apparatus includes a first set of metal bands positioned within a containment casing of a turbofan engine, and a second set of metal bands traversing the first set of metal bands, the first set of metal bands and the second set of metal bands to surround at least a portion of the turbofan engine.

AIRFOIL FOR A COMPRESSOR OF A TURBOMACHINE

The invention relates to an airfoil for a compressor of a turbomachine, which extends starting from a blade root between a leading edge and a trailing edge to a blade tip, wherein the leading edge has a leading-edge thickness and the airfoil has a maximum profile thickness, the ratio of which to each other represents a relative leading-edge thickness, and the airfoil has a leading-edge wedge angle.

An impeller includes: a main plate to be rotated; an annular side plate having a suction port for air; and blades in a circumferential direction. Each of the blades has: an inner peripheral end; an outer peripheral end; a sirocco blade portion that includes the outer peripheral end, and forms a forward-swept blade; and a turbo blade portion that includes the inner peripheral end and forms a swept-back blade. The blade has an end portion facing the suction port and a base portion connected to the main plate, and the end portion has a smaller thickness than that of the base portion in the sirocco blade portion. The end portion of the blade has a blade shape, and in the end portion having the blade shape, a first blade thickness of an inner circumferential side of the impeller is greater than a second blade thickness of the outer circumferential side.

IMPELLER AND CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR

An impeller includes: a disk-shaped hub centered on an axis; and a plurality of blades arranged in a circumferential direction and protruding from a surface of the hub facing one side in a direction of the axis. In a cross-sectional view including a blade height direction which is a direction away from the hub toward a tip of each blade, the blade has a recessed surface curved convexly toward a rear side in a rotational direction. In the cross-sectional view, when a distance between an imaginary line connecting a tip-side edge and a hub-side edge of the blade and a midspan of the blade along a direction perpendicular to the imaginary line is defined as a recess amount, the blade has a portion where the recess amount increases from a leading edge side to a trailing edge side.
