CREEP RESISTANT AXIAL RING SEAL
Aspects of the disclosure are directed to a seal comprising: a first leg that emanates from a center point of the seal and is configured to contact a first component, a second leg that emanates from the center point and is configured to contact a second component that is operative at a temperature that is within a range of 648 degrees Celsius to 1093 degrees Celsius, and a third leg that emanates from the center point.
Centrifugal compressor with twisted return channel vane
Three-dimensional (3D) return vane for a multistage centrifugal compressor. The return channel vane extends upstream to a region proximate the bend apex of the return channel. In each point of the return channel vane, the angle “beta” is defined as the acute angle between the tangent to the local camberline and the local circumferential direction. At each normalized position between leading edge and trailing edge, the local twist of the return channel vane is defined as the algebraic difference between the angles beta at the two points at hub and shroud having said normalized position. When moving in streamwise direction from leading edge to trailing edge, the twist first decreases, reaching an algebraic minimum, then increases, reaching an algebraic maximum, then decreases again. However, the absolute twist of the algebraic minimum is larger than the absolute twist of the algebraic maximum.
BLADE FOR AN AXIAL FLOW MACHINE
A blade for an axial flow machine having a pressure surface, suction surface and trailing edge. The blade has a cross-sectional aerofoil profile including: a region of maximum curvature corresponding to the trailing edge of the blade and defining a trailing edge radius of curvature r; a trailing edge region extending from the trailing edge and having a chordwise extent equal to curvature r′s trailing edge radius; a taper region adjacent the trailing edge region, the taper region having a chordwise extent greater than the curvature r′s trailing edge radius and no more than 15% of the blade's chord; a body region adjacent the taper region; a pressure surface boundary corresponding to the blade's pressure surface; and a suction surface boundary corresponding to the blade's suction surface. A thickness between the pressure and suction surface boundaries reduces within the taper region towards the trailing edge by at least 50%.
Variable stator vane assemblies and variable stator vanes thereof having a locally swept leading edge and methods for minimizing endwall leakage therewith
Variable stator vane assemblies and stator vanes thereof having a local swept leading edge are provided. The variable stator vane comprises an airfoil disposed between spaced apart inner and outer buttons centered about a rotational axis. The inner and outer buttons each have a button forward edge portion. The airfoil includes leading and trailing edges, pressure and suction sides, and a root and a tip. The leading edge includes a local forward sweep at the root, a local aft sweep at the tip, or both, thereby forming a locally swept leading edge thereat. The button forward edge portion of one or both of the inner and outer buttons is substantially coextensive with the locally swept leading edge. Methods are also provided for minimizing endwall leakage in the variable stator vane assembly using the same.
GAS TURBINE ENGINE AIRFOIL
An airfoil for a turbine engine includes pressure and suction sides extending in a radial direction from a 0% span position at an inner flow path location to a 100% span position at an airfoil tip. The airfoil has a relationship between an axial leading edge location and a span position that is at least a third order polynomial with a generally U-shaped curve having an initial negative slope followed by a positive slope. The positive slope leans aftward and the negative slope leans forward. The curve has a critical point in the range of 30-50% span position at which the curve changes from the negative slope to the positive slope. The curve is generally linear from 55% span to 75% span and has a positive slope that increases at a rate of about 0.0875 inch (2.22 mm) per 1% span, +/−0.04 inch (1.01 mm) per 1% span.
AEROFOIL
An aerofoil component defines an in use leading edge and a trailing edge. The leading edge has at least one serration defining an apex and a nadir. The leading edge has a generally chordwise extending slot located at the nadir of each serration.
WASTE GATE VALVE ACTUATOR
A waste gate valve actuator, that may be used for an exhaust gas turbocharger of a motor vehicle, may have a flap with a base surface to be supported on an edge of an inlet or outlet opening of a waste gate channel and a channel-side elevation, which at least in one cross section along its axial direction exhibits an outer contour with a first section and an adjoining section facing away from the base surface. The outer contour in the first section may have at least one outer tangent that includes a first angle deviating from zero with the axial direction, and in the second section may have at least two outer tangents spaced apart from each other in an axial direction that include the same second angle angle deviating from zero and the first angle with the axial direction, and/or wherein the elevation exhibits in particular a flat front surface facing away from the base surface, which in relation to the base surface-side floor surface of the elevation is offset toward a rotational axis of the flap.
CENTRIFUGAL BLOWER WHEEL FOR HVACR APPLICATIONS
A forward curved blower wheel has fan blades having relatively small leading edge blades angles and a relatively lengthy mean camber lines. The blower wheel also comprises leading edge notches adjacent its blower wheel inlet. The leading edge notches eliminate buffeting that would occur with such blades if such notches were not present.
TURBINE BLADE TIP SHROUD SURFACE PROFILES
A tip shroud includes a pair of opposed, axially extending wings configured to couple to an airfoil at a radially outer end thereof. The tip shroud also includes a tip rail extending radially from the pair of opposed, axially extending wings. Tip shroud surface profiles may be of the downstream and/or upstream side of the tip rail, a leading Z-notch of the tip shroud, and/or a downstream radially inner surface of a wing. The surface profiles may have a nominal profile substantially in accordance with at least part of Cartesian coordinate values of X and Y, and perhaps Z and a thickness, set forth in a respective table. The radially inner surface of the wing may define a protrusion extending along the radially outer end of the airfoil, the suction side fillet, and a radial inner surface of the wing to an axial edge of the wing.
Turbocharger and method of manufacturing floating bush
A turbocharger and a method of manufacturing a floating bush with which noise can be reduced, and the rotation speed can be increased. In a turbocharger in which a rotating shaft having a circular cross-section and connecting a turbine rotor and a compressor rotor is supported in a freely rotatable manner, at two axially separated positions via floating bushes, by an inner circumferential surface disposed so as to surround the rotating shaft in a bearing housing, an inner circumferential surface of each of the floating bushes has a non-circular shape in which the curvature of the cross-sectional shape varies in the circumferential direction.
