A propulsion system is provided and includes a solid hydride storage unit from which gaseous hydrogen fuel is drawn, an engine comprising a combustion chamber and a piping system to draw the gaseous hydrogen fuel from the solid hydride storage unit, the piping system being interposed between the solid hydride storage unit and the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber is receptive of the gaseous hydrogen fuel drawn from the solid hydride storage unit by the piping system and is configured to combust the gaseous hydrogen fuel to drive an operation of the engine.
REFRIGERATION SYSTEM FOR A GAS TURBINE
A system and method are disclosed for cooling ambient air to be supplied as combustion air to a gas turbine. The system comprises a closed coolant loop direct expansion cooling system including a compressor for compressing a suitable working fluid, an expansion device downstream from the compressor for expanding the working fluid so as to cool a cooling coil. The cooling coil is in heat exchange relation with ambient air flowing to the gas turbine for lowering the temperature of the ambient air to a lower temperature such that combustion air delivered to the gas turbine is below the ambient temperature thereby to increase the efficiency of the gas turbine. A return line is provided for returning the working fluid to the compressor.
COMBUSTOR FOR A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A combustor for a gas turbine engine, the gas turbine engine defining a longitudinal centerline extending in a longitudinal direction, a radial direction extending orthogonally outward from the longitudinal centerline, and a circumferential direction extending concentrically around the longitudinal centerline, the combustor including: a liner at least partially defining a combustion chamber, the liner including a dilution slot in fluid communication with the combustion chamber; and one or more guides configured to redirect cooling medium into the dilution slot.
Mounting arrangements for gas turbine engine accessories
A housing for a gas turbine engine accessory includes an enclosure having a drive end with an opening and a closure. The closure is seated in the opening, defines therethrough a shaft aperture and has a v-band flange extending about a periphery of the closure to limit load carried by the enclosure when the engine accessory is mounted to an accessory gearbox mount in a cantilevered arrangement. Engine accessories for gas turbine engines and mounting arrangements for gas turbine engine accessories are also described.
Gas turbine apparatus and manufacturing method for the same, and operation method for gas turbine apparatus
A gas turbine apparatus includes a turbine configured to be driven by a combustion gas from a combustor, an exhaust passage, an extraction line configured to extract a fluid from a combustor casing, a cooling part disposed in the extraction line and configured to cool the fluid, a return line for returning the fluid from the cooling part to an inside of the combustor casing, the return line being connected to the extraction line downstream of the cooling part, a bypass line for introducing the fluid from the cooling part to the exhaust passage by bypassing the turbine, the bypass line branching from the return line, and a communication state switching part for controlling a communication state between the extraction line and the combustor casing via the return line, and a communication state between the extraction line and the exhaust passage via the bypass line.
HEAT EXCHANGE SYSTEM FOR AIRCRAFT ENGINE
A heat exchange system for an aircraft engine includes a heat exchanger, a main conduit directing fuel to a combustion chamber of the aircraft engine, and a pump connected to the main conduit. A return conduit receives excess fuel outputted by the pump and exceeding a fuel requirement of the combustion chamber. The return conduit, which is connected to a fuel conduit of the heat exchanger, has an inlet connected to the main conduit downstream of the pump and an outlet connected to the main conduit upstream of the pump. An actuator has an inlet connected to the main conduit downstream of the pump and an outlet connected to the main conduit upstream of the pump while bypassing the heat exchanger, wherein a pressure differential between the actuator inlet and the actuator outlet remains substantially unchanged with variations of a fuel flow through the heat exchanger.
Component with cooling passage for a turbine engine
An apparatus and method for an engine component for a turbine engine having a working airflow separated into a cooling airflow and a combustion airflow. The engine component including a wall defining an interior and having an outer surface. A tip wall spanning first and second sides of the wall to close the interior.
