A variable geometry turbine comprising: a wheel supported for rotation about an axis; a housing comprising a first volute for receiving gas from a first source and a second volute for receiving gas from a second source; the first and second volutes being separated by a dividing wall; and an inlet passageway surrounding the wheel and fluidly connected to the volutes; the inlet passageway at least partially defined between a first wall and an opposite second wall, the first wall being moveable along the axis to vary the size of the inlet passageway; wherein a tip of the dividing wall defines a first radius relative to the axis, and a radially outermost part of the first wall positioned within the inlet passageway defines a second radius relative to the axis, and wherein the first radius is at least around 1% larger than the second radius.

Simultaneously pumping and measuring density of aircraft fuel

Apparatus and associated methods relate to simultaneously pumping and measuring density of an aircraft fuel. The aircraft fuel is pumped by a centrifugal pump having an impeller. A rotational frequency of the impeller is determined while the centrifugal pump is pumping the aircraft fuel. Flow rate of the aircraft fuel through the centrifugal pump is sensed. Pressure of the aircraft fuel is measured at two different points within or across the centrifugal pump or a differential pressure is measured between the two different points while the centrifugal pump is pumping the aircraft fuel. Density of the aircraft fuel is determined based on a head-curve relation characterizing the centrifugal pump. The head-curve relation relates the fuel density to the rotational frequency, the flow rate, and pressures at the two different points or the differential pressure between the two different points.

CRYOGENIC COOLING SYSTEM FOR AN AIRCRAFT

An engine-driven cryogenic cooling system for an aircraft includes a first air cycle machine, a second air cycle machine, and a means for condensing a chilled air stream into liquid air for an aircraft use. The first air cycle machine includes a plurality of components operably coupled to a gearbox of a gas turbine engine and configured to produce a cooling air stream based on a first engine bleed source of the gas turbine engine. The second air cycle machine is operable to output the chilled air stream at a cryogenic temperature based on a second engine bleed source cooled by the cooling air stream of the first air cycle machine.

ACOUSTICALLY OPTIMIZED DISCHARGE LINE GRID WITH CHANNELS

Discharge grate intended to be mounted inside or at the outlet of a conduit of a discharge valve of a turbine engine of an aircraft, the discharge grate comprising an upstream face intended to receive a gas flow, a downstream face parallel to the upstream face and intended to deliver the gas flow received on the upstream face, and orifices passing through the perforated plate from the upstream face to the downstream face and intended to convey the gas flow through the perforated plate.

The discharge grate comprises for each orifice of the perforated plate a tubular channel, coaxial with the orifice with which it is associated, and projecting from the downstream face of the perforated plate.
