DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DATA COMMUNICATION IN AN AIRCRAFT SUBASSEMBLY
The present disclosure concerns the communication between electronic systems in an aircraft subassembly such as a propulsion unit. This communication is at least partially carried out by light signals transmitted through at least one interior volume of the sub-assembly, this interior volume defining an optical channel. To this end, at least one of these systems includes an emitter arranged to emit a light signal and modulate it depending on data to be transmitted generated by this system, and at least one other of these systems includes at least one receiver capable of receiving this light signal.
HIGH ACCURACY FUEL SYSTEM
A fuel device including a housing having at least one fuel channel configured to direct, meter, sense or pump fuel there through, and a characterization device coupled to the housing including a memory chip, wherein the memory chip includes measured performance data of the fuel channel.
Turbine assembly with ceramic matrix composite vane components and cooling features
A turbine assembly according to the present disclosure includes ceramic matrix composite vanes mounted to a metallic case. The turbine assembly includes a turbine case cooling system with a vane case cooling unit configured to manage the temperature and diameter of the metallic case at the location where the ceramic matrix composite vanes are mounted so as to control circumferential movement of the vanes relative to one another during heating and cooling of the turbine assembly when used in a gas turbine engine.
THROTTLE SYSTEM
Disclosed is a throttle quadrant arrangement having a throttle lever which is independently mechanically connected to different Rotary Variable Differential Transformers (RVDTs). A friction lever selectively creates and releases friction from the throttle lever to enable it to be selectively positioned. The system is configured such that the mechanical connections existing between the throttle lever and the RVDTs are shielded from the friction created by the friction lever.
Apparatus and method for providing fluid to a bearing damper
Disclosed is a lubricant supply system for a plurality of bearing dampers in a plurality of engine bearing compartments of a gas turbine engine, including a lubricant supply conduit, a first lubricant delivery conduit fluidly coupled to the supply conduit, the first delivery conduit including one or more lubricant delivery flow paths and delivering lubrication to engine components, a second lubricant delivery conduit fluidly coupled to the supply conduit, the second delivery conduit delivering lubricant to one or more of the plurality of bearing dampers, and an active oil flow management valve, selectively restricting lubricant flow in the first delivery conduit, increasing pressure in the second delivery conduit, based on an engine shaft rotational speed.
Wave guide with fluid passages
A wave guide assembly for a control and diagnostic system for a machine, the wave guide assembly includes a housing defining an exterior surface and an internal cavity extending between distal ends. A wave guide is defined within the internal cavity. At least one open conduit is defined within the internal cavity providing a space for routing conductors through the housing. A fluid passage is defined within the internal cavity separate from the wave guide. A control and diagnostic system for a machine and a gas turbine engine are also disclosed.
HIGH ACCURACY FUEL SYSTEM
In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, a fuel system can include, a fuel device, a fuel characterization device operatively connected to the fuel device configured to measure performance data of the fuel device before installation into an engine fuel system, and an electronic engine controller operatively connected to the fuel characterization device to receive the measured performance data of the fuel device on start up and calculate a metered mass flow based at least in part on the measured performance data of the fuel device. The electronic engine controller can be configured to control the fuel device to direct, meter, or pump fuel to the engine through the fuel device based on the calculated metered mass flow.
