Joint assembly and method of forming thereof
A joint assembly includes a first component formed from a first material and a second component including a portion that extends at least partially into the first component and that has an uneven outer profile. The first material is configured to form the first component into a shape that is substantially complementary to a shape of the portion to facilitate restricting movement of the second component in an axial direction.
Horology device comprising a first component fixed to a second component by plastic deformation
A horology device that includes a first component having at least one plastically deformable portion, and a second component provided with a surface, notably a surface of revolution and/or of guidance and/or of attachment of the first component relative to the second component, the first component being fixed permanently to the second component by plastic deformation of the at least one portion against the second component, in a plane perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to an axis of said surface of the second component.
Hybrid metallic/composite joint with enhanced strength
A metallic/composite joint includes a composite member and an insert located at least partially within the composite member. The composite member comprises a cylinder having an angled end extending along a centerline axis, an inner surface of the angled end oriented at a first angle relative to the centerline axis. The insert is located at least partially within the angled end and having an outer surface oriented at a second angle relative to the centerline axis. The first and second angles are oriented to reduce maximum shear stress in the composite member when the insert and composite member are in an installed position.
HYBRID METALLIC/COMPOSITE JOINT WITH ENHANCED STRENGTH
A metallic/composite joint may comprise a composite member extending along a centerline axis and a metallic member. The composite member may comprise a cylinder having a flared end. An outer surface of the flared end may be oriented at a first angle relative to the centerline axis. An inner surface of the metallic member may be oriented at a second angle relative to the centerline axis. The inner surface of the metallic member and the outer surface of the composite member may be separated by a first gap at a first location and may be separated by a second gap at a second location.
In various embodiments, the composite member may comprise a cylinder having an angled end, an inner surface of the angled end oriented at the first angle and an insert having an outer surface oriented at the second angle.
Crimp structure, crimping method, and electronic device
Provided is a crimp structure in which an inner member and an outer member are joined to each other. The inner member includes an insertion portion having a columnar outer circumferential surface, and an annular groove provided in the outer circumferential surface. The outer member includes a main body portion, and a cylindrical portion continuous with the main body portion and forming an opening into which the insertion portion is inserted. The cylindrical portion includes a first reduced-diameter portion continuous with the main body portion via a first plastically-deformed portion and located further inward in a radial direction than the main body portion, and a second reduced-diameter portion continuous with the first reduced-diameter portion via a second plastically-deformed portion and located further inward in the radial direction than the first reduced-diameter portion. At least a part of the second reduced-diameter portion has entered the annular groove.
CRIMP STRUCTURE, CRIMPING METHOD, AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE
Provided is a crimp structure in which an inner member and an outer member that is arranged outside the inner member are joined to each other. The inner member includes: an insertion portion having a columnar surface-like outer circumferential surface; and a recessed portion provided in the outer circumferential surface. The outer member includes: a cylindrical portion that forms an opening into which the insertion portion is inserted; a reduced-diameter portion that is formed in the cylindrical portion, and has a plastically deformed shape such that a diameter of the cylindrical portion is reduced annularly inward in a radial direction; and a protruding portion that has a plastically deformed shape such that a part, in a circumferential direction, of the reduced-diameter portion has entered the recessed portion. Relative rotation of the inner member and the outer member can be suppressed.
Method for Connecting a Ball to a First Component in a Positively Locking Manner, and Component Connection
A method is provided for connecting a ball to a first component having the following steps: providing a first component which has a through-hole; providing a ball and inserting the ball into the through-hole such that the ball protrudes out of the first component at opposite sides of the first component; placing a first pressing tool on the ball from a first side of the first component and placing a second pressing tool on the ball from a second side of the first component; plastically deforming the ball by pressing together the pressing tools, wherein material of the ball flows both on the first side as well as on the second side of the first component, such that material of the ball covers an edge of the through-hole on the first side and on the second side of the first component, whereby a formfitting connection is produced between the ball and the first component.
Insert Alignment and Installation Devices and Methods
A method and device for sealing holes in blocks such as hydraulic manifolds, engine blocks and the like is provided and includes a sheet with a plurality of holes therein, each hole is designed to receive an insert of a particular size and each hole corresponds to an installation hole in a block or manifold such that when the sheet is aligned with the block/manifold, the insert can be pressed into the installation hole and expanded against the wall of the installation hole. The sheet provides protection against damage of the block during installation of the inserts therein, which may be accomplished with a pneumatic hammer.
