Push through retainer connection with integrated hinging seal

A press-in retainer includes a retainer head having a collar and a seal disposed at least partially about the collar. A clip portion projects from the collar. The seal includes a main body engaging the collar and a sealing foot disposed entirely outboard from the collar. The sealing foot is configured to hinge about an intersection of the sealing foot and body portion while remaining entirely outboard from the main body. In a substantially flattened condition of the sealing foot, an angle between the sealing foot and a distal surface of the main body approaches a flat contiguous surface.

A shearing fastener for sealing a fastener hole in a work piece includes a shank, a plug, and a fastener head. The fastener head is disposed along the upper end of the shank, while the lower end of the shank further includes a transition section that tapers inward and intersects with an upper surface of the plug at a neck. The plug has a threaded outer surface and an outer diameter greater than the shank. The plug engages the threaded bore of the fastener hole when inserted therein. The shank is configured to shear across the neck and separate the shank from the plug when the fastener head is torqued above a threshold torque. The plug is retained within the threaded bore of the fastener hole to seal the lower end of the fastener hole, forming a repaired work piece.

ELECTROMAGNETIC EFFECT PROTECTIVE FASTENER WITH SWAGEABLE TERMINATION BODY

An electromagnetic effect suppressing termination part for a fastener formed of a metallic material, the fastener having a head, a shank, and a male threaded portion opposite the head, has a metallic core coated by a layer of dielectric material. An internal bore of the termination part includes an inner wall, a counterbore hole, and a cavity disposed therebetween. An outer surface includes an outer wall, and a frustoconical wall positioned proximally relative to the outer wall, the frustoconical wall extending radially outwardly from the outer wall and having an included angle of less than approximately 90 degrees. A seal is disposed in the counterbore hole, and the frustoconical wall is configured so that a compressive force applied to the frustoconical wall deforms the inner wall to conform to the male threaded portion of the fastener and deforms the seal to fill the cavity.

INJECTION MOLDED RIVET-STYLE FASTENER AND HOUSING WITH SNAP ASSEMBLY FUNCTIONALITY ALONG WITH AN INJECTION MOLDING PROCESS FOR PRODUCING SUCH A RIVET WITHOUT AN UNDERCUT FEATURE

A fastener assembly including a hollow and structurally collapsible stem over an intermediate extending range, a solid end most extending portion being structurally rigid. A receiving portion is constructed of a deformable material having a surface, within which is configured an inner rim defined edge of a deformable material. The inner rim edge can include either of a flat profile or a chamfered shape with a narrowed profile, a diameter of an aperture bounded by the chamfered edge being less than a diameter of the solid end portion so that, upon insertion and passage of the solid portion through the narrowed rim profile, initial deformation of the chamfered rim edge shape preceding alignment of the interiorly hollowed portion, which is subsequently caused to exhibit a controlled collapse by the rim edge in order to secure the stem within the receiving portion.

Sealing pin and grommet fastener accommodating two directional offset

An inner housing defines a pin retaining receptacle elongated in an X-direction with entry ramps extending parallel to the X-direction. The inner housing is slidably coupled to an outer housing for movement in a Y-direction. The outer housing has an enclosed interior defined by outer housing walls extending from an outer housing flange. Resilient retention wings can extend outwardly from the outer housing walls without providing adjacent openings therethrough to facilitate water resistance. A water resistant seal is positionable between an outer housing flange and a first component to seal therebetween when the outer housing is coupled to the first component by the retention wings. Centering blades extend between the inner and outer housings to initially locate the pin retaining receptacle in a central position within the interior in a Y-direction and the centering blades are movable during insertion of the pin into the pin retaining receptacle.

Hybrid fastener

A hybrid fastener is provided in combination with a structural insert. The insert is disposed about a shank of the fastener at an unthreaded section. In another aspect, a sleeve surrounds the shank of the fastener and has apertures for receiving the insert therethrough. Methods of using the above-described hybrid fastener for securing workpieces are also disclosed.

Conformal clearance fit fastener, fastener system, and method for composite structures

A fastener includes an elongated shaft having a first end, a second end, and a shaft body, a head portion, and a threaded portion. At least one inner feed channel extends through the head portion and the shaft body and terminates proximal to the threaded portion. The fastener has a plurality of flutes formed along and circumferentially spaced around an outer surface of the shaft body and an outer surface of the head portion. Each flute has a first end and extends from a first location proximal to the threaded portion, along the outer surface of the shaft body, and radially outward along the outer surface of the head portion. The fastener further has one or more lateral feed channels formed laterally through the shaft body and connecting the inner feed channel to at least two opposing flutes on the outer surface of the shaft body.

Fastening device

A fastening apparatus includes a head element for abutting a first edge region of a component opening and an anchor foot element for rear engagement with a second edge region lying opposite the first edge region. The anchor foot element has a base section extending from the head element in axial direction and four locking arms arranged in pairs and connected to the base section. Each pair of locking arms is configured in order to be pivotable relative to an axial central plane of the fastening apparatus, and each pair of locking arms has locking/centering stages arranged offset from one another in axial direction. A locking/centering stage comprises a centering surface for centering the fastening apparatus relative to a component opening and a locking surface for rear engagement with a component opening. A locking surface and a centering surface of a locking/centering stage are arranged approximately orthogonally to one another.

Tension-based mechanical coupling device

A mechanical-coupling device is described. The mechanical-coupling device includes a toggle bolt with a fixture in a bolt head that remateably mechanically couples to an attachment tool. The device may further include an anchor nut having an anchor wing or tab. During mechanical coupling of the anchor nut to the bolt with a mounting material, such as a wall, countertop or sink, between the bolt head and the anchor nut, the fixture may convey a pulling force, from the attachment tool, that results in fixing a position of the anchor nut with the anchor wing or tab in a deployed position. Moreover, the fixture may convey a rotational torque, from the attachment tool, about a symmetry axis of the bolt that rotates the bolt relative to the fixed position of the anchor nut so that a distance between the bolt head and the anchor nut decreases.
