Hybrid thread geometry for threaded fitting
A threaded fitting comprising a first plurality of threads from a first end of the fitting to a transition thread and a second plurality of threads from the transition thread to a second end of the fitting. The first plurality of threads is configured to provide a labyrinth type seal minimizing the migration of at least dust and/or gases across a thick-walled enclosure. The second plurality of threads is configured to engage a lock-nut in thin-walled enclosures, or a plurality of pre-formed threads within an aperture of thick-walled enclosures, for minimizing the migration of at least fluids/water across one of the thin- or thick-walled enclosure. The first and second plurality of threads are serially-arranged and may be used either thin or thick-walled enclosures to retard a passage of at least one of either gas, fluid, dust and flame.
Fastener and vent device for telecommunications equipment
A device includes a head having a material having a plurality of pores, wherein at least some of the pores from the plurality of pores each have a size that is smaller than a water molecule and larger than an air molecule such that the air molecules can pass through the pores and the water molecules are prevented from passing through the pores; and an elongated body extending from the head and having a thread on an outer surface thereof and having a conduit extending longitudinally through the elongated body to the head. The device is configured to fasten a first surface to a second surface using the thread of the elongated body.
Integrated Fastener System
Disclosed are systems and methods for coupling a first component to a second component via an integrated fastener. The component assembly comprising a first component having a first surface and a second surface. An integrated fastener extending from the second surface and configured to attach the first component adjacent to the second component. The wherein the first component and the integrated fastener are formed as a unitary structure using, for example, an additive manufacturing process. The integrated fastener can comprise a clip assembly with one or more retention features extending outwardly from the integrated fastener at an end opposite the first component.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR LIGHTNING PROTECTION AND LOCATING OF FASTENER NUTS WITH DIELECTRIC MATERIALS
A fastening system for aerospace vehicles including a dielectric nut retainer strip formed of dielectric material and having at least one fastener thru hole and at least one cap receiver portion. Also included are an anti-rotation nut retainer portion integrally formed in the dielectric nut retainer adjacent to the at least one fastener thru hole, a cap configured to mate with the at least one cap receiver portion, a fastener covered in a conductive coating, and an anti-rotation nut configured to fit in the anti-rotation nut retainer portion and couple with the fastener.
Structural Attachment Sealing System
A mounting device including a base having an open bottom, a longitudinal axis, and a linear guide on the base. The linear guide guides support hardware in linear movement along the longitudinal axis. An internal cavity is under the base for containing a sealant against and in cooperation with a roof when the mounting device is secured to the root. An opening is though the base is for receiving a fastener when the mounting device is secured to the roof. The opening is in communication with the internal cavity. The linear guide extends beyond the internal cavity.
Fluid-tight Mechanical Fastening System and Associated Structural Assembly
A structural assembly including a first member having an external side and an internal side, the first member defining a first member through-bore, a second member having an external side and an internal side, the second member defining a second member through-bore aligned with the first member through-bore, and a mechanical fastening system including a bushing at least partially received in the first member through-bore, the bushing defining a bushing through-bore and including a flange, wherein the flange is positioned in a gap between the internal side of the first member and the external side of the second member, a nut plate connected to the internal side of the second member, the nut plate defining a clearance bore aligned with the second member through-bore and the bushing through-bore, the nut plate including a nut, and a bolt extending through the bushing through-bore and into threaded engagement with the nut.
Self-centering sealant applicator
A method and apparatus for applying sealant. The apparatus may comprise a shaping portion, a centering portion, and a support system. The shaping portion may have a cavity configured to receive a fastener system and receive a sealant. The centering portion may have a channel configured to position the shaping portion in a desired position around the fastener system when the fastener system is received in the cavity. The support system may be configured to maintain the desired position of the apparatus.
Blind rivet insert, a component with an installed blind rivet insert and method for installing such a blind rivet insert in a component opening
A blind rivet insert having a head forming an annular flange and a shank extending from an underside of the head, and having a head end, a foot end and a bore extending from the head end to the foot end. The insert has a first bore segment near the foot end, provided with an internal thread, and a second bore segment near the head end whose diameter is greater than that of the first bore segment. The underside of the head includes an annular groove adapted for receiving a sealing ring in a mounted condition of the blind rivet insert. An annular retaining shank groove extends circumferentially around the shank, is arranged adjacent to the underside of the head, and retains the sealing ring in a preloaded position before mounting the blind rivet insert.
METHOD OF FILLING VOIDS IN A FILLED SEAL CAP
Methods of using and repairing seal caps as well as constructions comprising seal caps, including in some embodiments seal caps which may be useful in sealing fasteners that protrude into fuel storage cells in aircraft. In some embodiments, methods include the use of optically translucent seal cap and application of a second quantity of sealant to fill voids observed within the interior of the seal cap after cure of a first quantity of sealant.
