20200055075 · 2020-02-20 ·

A coating tool includes a holder having an applicator head extending between a first end and a second end. The applicator head is hollow along at least part of its length to define an internal cavity delimited by an inner wall. The applicator head has an outer rim at the first end. A foam applicator has a collar portion attached to the outer rim of the applicator head, and a body portion extending from the collar portion inwardly into the applicator head and disposed within the internal cavity to be displaceable relative to the inner wall. The foam applicator has an applicator opening extending through the collar portion and at least part of the body portion. The foam applicator is made of a foam material which, upon receiving a coating, expands inwardly to reduce a volume of the applicator opening. A coating method is also disclosed.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SEALING A METAL FASTENER FROM ELECTROLYTE IN AN AREA OF DISSIMILAR METALS
20200049191 · 2020-02-13 · ·

A sealing system and a method for sealing a metal fastener and members having dissimilar metals for a header connector or a connector device from electrolyte in an area where, in the header connector or the connector device, certain dissimilar metals may be in contact. The metal fastener and other adjoining or abutting dissimilar metals are sealed by a non-conductive seal from electrolyte, thereby protecting the metal fastener and the other adjoining or abutting dissimilar metals from galvanic corrosion and subsequently protecting the integrity of the header connector or the connector device.

BOLT AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A bolt includes a head portion on which a recess is formed. The recess has a bottom surface and a sidewall extending from a periphery of the bottom surface. The sidewall has a lower end defined by the bottom surface and includes an increased diameter portion and a reduced diameter portion. The increased diameter portion has an inner diameter larger than an inner diameter of the lower end of the side wall. The reduced diameter portion has an inner diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the increased diameter portion. The reduced diameter portion is located opposite to the bottom surface across the increased diameter portion.

Fastener using lubricated interference fit

The invention relates to a metallic fastener (10; 40) for the interference fit assembly of at least two structural elements (20, 22) comprising a through hole, the fastener comprising an enlarged head (12; 42), a shaft (14; 44) having an external diameter before installation that is greater than an internal diameter of the hole, said shaft comprising a conductive surface (26; 56). Before installation, at least the conductive surface (26; 56) is coated with a lubricating layer (30), which comprises a mixture of at least one polyolefin and one polytetrafluoroethylene, for example, having sufficient adherence to prevent its abrasion by manual manipulation of the fastener and being weak enough to be at least partly stripped from the conductive surface during the interference fit assembly of the fastener. The invention further relates to a method for obtaining such a fastener and to a method for installing such a fastener in a structure. The invention is applicable to the assembly of aircraft structures.

WALL NAIL

A wall nail includes a rod body, a nail head, a rotary head, and a rubber cover. The rod body has a first end portion and a second end portion opposite to the first end portion. The nail head includes a threaded rod and a drill. Two ends of the threaded rod are integrally connected with the second end portion of the rod body and the drill respectively. The rotary head is integrally formed on the first end portion of the rod body. The rubber cover covers the peripheries of the rod body and the rotary head.

Connecting element for a tubular component overlaid with a metallic composite deposit and method of obtaining such element

A connecting element for a tubular component, the connecting element being overlaid with a coating including a principal layer constituted by a nickel-phosphorus alloy, a tubular component including one or more such connecting elements, and a method for producing such a connecting element.

Wedge locking washer with increased corrosion resistance and method for its manufacture
10508679 · 2019-12-17 · ·

A wedge locking washer has a central axis, a central through hole defining an inner peripheral axial surface, an outer peripheral axial surface, a first side surface adapted to face and engage another wedge locking washer. The first side has a pattern of radially extending cams, each cam having a first surface inclined in relation to a central plane of a wedge can locking surface and a second surface. The first and the second surface of each cam meet in a radially extending cam edge and the second surface of a first cam meet the first surface of an adjacent cam in an radially extending inner corner. Each cam has a height h defined between a bottom plane in which the bottom of the inner corner is arranged and a top plane in which the top of the cam edge is arranged.

FASTENER, ASSEMBLY, AND METHOD OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME

A fastener including: a fastener body including a base defining an aperture down a central axis, and first and second opposing major surfaces, and at least one secondary base defining a secondary aperture; and a functional layer overlying the first major surface of the base, where the second opposing major surface is free of the functional layer or is overlaid with a second functional layer different than the first functional layer.

IMAGING SYSTEMS WITH IMPROVED THREAD LIFE
20190361218 · 2019-11-28 ·

Systems, methods, and devices are provided that facilitate reducing wear of threads of a camera head of an imaging system (e.g., a borescope), thereby increasing the lifespan of an imaging system. In some embodiments, an imaging system is provided that includes a camera head made of anodized TiAl.sub.6V.sub.4 and coated with a solid film lubricant. The imaging system can also include a probe tip made of 303 stainless steel and coated with a diamond-line carbon coating. By using a camera head made of anodized TiAl.sub.6V.sub.4 and coated with a SFL in combination with a probe tip made of 303 SS and coated with a DLC, wear on threads of the camera head can be reduced, thereby increasing the lifespan of the imaging system.

FASTENING MEMBER

A fastening member in an embodiment consists of a bolt and a nut. A hard layer made of a metal nitride is formed on a surface of a threaded portion of the bolt or a surface of a threaded portion of the nut.
