Fastener
A nut-and-bolt fastener is provided. The nut and bolt are configured with a plurality of interlocking teeth that provide unidirectional travel of the nut with respect to the bolt. In particular, the configuration of the teeth arrest separation of the nut from the bolt while permitting the nut to move toward the head of the bolt into a fastened engagement. The teeth are non-helical and arranged concentrically around the longitudinal axis in evenly-spaced steps or segments along the longitudinal axis and around the shaft of the bolt and bore of the nut. Integral winged washers are provided on the bolt head as well as on the nut. Variations with different rake angles of the teeth as well as an expandable nut are also provided.
Diopter adjustment mechanism
A diopter adjustment mechanism comprises a scope tube with a first female thread and a second female thread. The first female thread has a first pitch and is disposed on the scope tube forming a spiral thread and lands between the spiral threads. The second female thread has a second pitch and is disposed on the lands of the first female thread. A jam nut has a male thread corresponding to and engaging the second female thread.

Anchoring system for attaching equipment to a building foundation
An anchoring system for attaching equipment to a building foundation. The system includes an insert attached to the foundation by an adhesive, wherein the insert includes a flange that is positioned on a top surface of the foundation. The system also includes a washer element having a recessed portion for receiving the flange, wherein the washer also contacts the top surface. In addition, the system includes a rod element having a reference element, wherein the rod element is threadably engaged with the insert and the washer and wherein when the reference element is aligned with a reference plane indicative of level equipment, the washer is tightened against the top surface to preload the rod element to minimize deflection of the equipment.

Fastener system comprising an externally threaded bolt and an internally threaded nut for the avoidance of cross-threading of the mating threads during assembly
A threaded fastener system, incorporating a bolt and a nut assembly, wherein the bolt has a threaded lead entry point whose pitch and helix angle are of a higher magnitude than that of those on the body/shank of the bolt.

FASTENING SYSTEM USING AN AXIALLY MAGNETIZED THREADED INSERT
Disclosed is an improved fastening system that leverages magnetism to assist in the installation of a fastener. The system may include an axially magnetized insert adapted to be secured within a bore in a surrounding material. The insert may be composed of a material having a magnetic permeability that is higher than that of the surrounding material. The insert may include a helical threaded interior surface adapted to receive a ferromagnetic screw. When placed in proximity of the insert, the tip of the screw is pulled into and held in alignment with the insert by the magnetic field emanating from the magnet. The fastening system may be particularly beneficial in environments where positioning or holding the screw in the starting position is difficult.

Captive externally threaded fastener method
An externally threaded fastener is captivated by a component that includes an opening. The externally threaded fastener includes a thread and a non-threaded shaft. The opening includes a major diameter and a minor diameter. The minor diameter includes a first diameter portion, a second diameter portion, and orthogonal portions that connect the first diameter portion and the second diameter portion. To captivate the externally threaded fastener with the component, the externally threaded fastener is positioned within the component opening and the externally threaded fastener is angled relative to an axis of symmetry of the opening in order to engage the threads of the externally threaded fastener with the component opening until the non-threaded shaft is fixed against at least two planes of the component by the first diameter portion of the minor diameter.
