FASTENER SYSTEMS THAT PROVIDE EME PROTECTION
Fasteners are inserted into a stack of members and terminated with parts having at least one of a dry dielectric coating and a dry dielectric seal at select locations to protect against electromagnetic effects (EME).
DRILLING SCREW
A self-drilling screw composed of an austenitic or some other non-corrosive base material (1) is provided, having a shank (12), having a cutting or shaping drilling or threaded tip (16) arranged at one shank end and having a hard coating (3) applied at least to the drilling or threaded tip (16) by electrodeposition, this hard coating (3) having a layer containing a transition metal, for example a hard chromium layer. The shank (12) has a hard edge layer (2) at least under the hard coating (3). A topcoat (4) composed of a lubricating and heat-dissipating material, which preferably is metal, wax and/or lacquer, is applied to the hard coating (3).

Articles having thermoset coatings and coating methods
A method to prevent corrosion of a susceptible article of a two-article system, in which first and second articles of the two-article system have surfaces facing one another and in which the two articles have different anodic indices includes applying a coating material to the surface of the first article and curing the coating material on the surface of the first article. The method further includes contacting and securing the surface of the first article with the surface of the second article. The two articles exhibit substantially no corrosion following exposure to a corrosive environment under standard GMW17026 for a 15 year simulated test.

Zn-Ni AS A COATING LAYER ON SELF-DRILLING SCREWS OF AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL
A self-drilling screw (10) having a head (20), a shaft (30) at least partially wearing a thread (35) and a drill point (40). The base material of the screw (10) including the drill point (40) is integrally manufactured from an austenitic 300 series steel with a surface hardness (uncoated) of 400-600 HV 0.3. The surface of the screw has a top coating of Zn—Ni with a Ni-content between 12-15% deposited on the austenitic base material. This self-drilling screw (10) is manufactured from a blank of raw austenite 300 series steel which is initially squeezed by cold forming to reduce its diameter in a first operation and, in following cold forming operations the head, the drill point and a thread are formed.
SEALANT ARTICLES AND METHOD OF APPLYING SEALANT
A method of making an assembly is disclosed. According to the method, a curable sealant is applied to a metal surface of a first article, and the curable sealant and first article are stored under conditions to maintain the curable sealant in an at least partially uncured state. The method further includes contacting the curable sealant on the first article metal surface with an electrically conductive surface of a second article, and curing the curable sealant.
Fastener tip coating
An ease of drive coating for a fastener is formulated from a resin having at least two different friction reducing components, such as silicone and graphite. A fastener and fastener strip include a resin formulation with at last two different friction reducing components.
Lubricant film-forming composition and screw joint for steel pipe
A lubricant film-forming composition includes as a composition: 40 to 80 mass % of a base oil consisting of one or more selected from pentaerythritol fatty acid ester and trimethylolpropane fatty acid ester; 5 to 20 mass % of a solidifying agent consisting of paraffin wax; and 10 to 40 mass % of a solid lubricant consisting of one or more selected from alkali metal salt of hydroxystearic acid and alkali earth metal salt of hydroxystearic acid. A total content of the base oil, the solidifying agent, and the solid lubricant is 85 mass % or more and 100 mass % or less, and the lubricant film-forming composition does not contain heavy metals.
Earth bolt containing surface treatment layer and method of surface treatment of earth bolt
An earth bolt with a surface treatment layer are a method of surface treatment of the earth bolt are provided. The surface treatment includes a tin-zinc plated layer, a colored chromate film layer and a silicate coating layer. Since the earth bolt with the surface treatment layer has improved electro-conductivity and anti-rusting property, it may protect electrical/electronic components fitted to a vehicle from electromagnetic shock and remove noise therefrom, thereby improving reliability of a vehicle body.
