A fastening device for coupling an assembly includes a fastener comprising a head, a threaded portion, and a shank extending between the head and the threaded portion. The fastening device also includes a coating formed around the fastener, wherein the coating is electrically conductive and comprises a varying thickness along the shank.

BOLT INTERFACE COATING AND THREAD TRANSITION GEOMETRY FOR SLEEVED FASTENERS USED IN COMPOSITE APPLICATIONS

A bolt for an interference fastener and a fastener system is provided. The bolt has a body extending axially between a first end and a second end. The body has a threaded area extending axially inward from the second end and a head configured on the first end. A cylindrical expansion area extends axially between the head and the transition area. The transition area is disposed axially between the cylindrical expansion area and the threaded area.

MULTI SEGMENT WIND TURBINE BLADE JOINT BUSHING

A joint bushing that accommodates the dithering and sliding in multi segment wind turbines. The joint bushing includes a self-lubricating liner that is a composite system incorporating woven Polytetrafluoroethylene fibers intermixed with structural reinforcement fibers in a composite matrix. The composite system provides sufficient life without requiring re-lubrication.

A push-on fastener including a push-on fastener body including an annular base defining an aperture, first and second opposing major surfaces, and a plurality of radial tabs extending from the annular base, the radial tabs terminating radially inwardly or radially outwardly and providing a peripheral surface; and a low friction layer overlying the first major surface of the push-on fastener body, wherein the peripheral surface is free of low friction layer.

PINNED AIRFOIL FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINES
20200123915 · 2020-04-23 ·

An airfoil for a gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, an airfoil section that extends from a root section. The airfoil section extends between a leading edge and a trailing edge in a chordwise direction and extends between a tip portion and the root section in a radial direction, and the airfoil section defines a pressure side and a suction side separated in a thickness direction. The airfoil section includes a metallic sheath that receives a composite core, and the core includes first and second ligaments received in respective internal channels defined by the sheath such that the first and second ligaments are spaced apart along the root section with respect to the chordwise direction. The first and second ligaments define respective sets of bores, and the respective sets of bores are aligned to receive a common set of retention pins.

Adjustable slide knob with safety lock

The presently disclosed adjustable slide knob addresses the Backing-Off problem present with various conventional nuts. The adjustable slide knobs can be quickly positioned along a threaded rod by applying pressure to an exposed surface of a partially threaded nut. When the knob is placed against a work surface and the user releases pressure from the partially threaded nut, the thread pattern on the partially threaded nut meshes with the matching thread pattern on the threaded rod. The device can then be twisted, which will translate the device along the threaded rod, to apply a larger load to the work surface. The threaded rod may include one or more key-ways shaped to allow a locking tab housed within the knob to stop the device from freely disengaging the threaded rod to protect a user from potential injury caused by the fastener unexpectedly backing off and disengaging.

ULTRA-LOW PROFILE AEROSTATIC BEARING AND THE METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

An ultra-low profile aerostatic bearing and the method of manufacturing the same is disclosed. The aerostatic bearing comprises a substrate as a bearing housing, a hypodermic tubing and a plurality of orifices on the tubing. The method of manufacturing the aerostatic bearing includes the steps of forming the bearing housing and the hypodermic tubing and bonding the hypodermic tubing and the substrate together, and applying an encapsulation substance that encases the hypodermic tubing network and covers the substrate surface to obtain geometric accuracy and surface finish of the bearing surface by replicating the geometry and surface finish of a molding master.

Constant friction rotating monitor stand

An adjustable monitor stand that can hold a monitor includes a carrier, a base, and a low friction insert. First and second channel insertion portions extend from a curved lower surface of the low friction insert. Each has outer walls to be received by and fixedly engage with first and second base channels formed in a curved upper surface of the base, respectively, to prevent movement of the low friction insert with respect to the base. The first and second channel insertion portions each have inner walls to receive first and second protrusions extending from a curved lower surface of the carrier, respectively, and permit the carrier to be moved about a non-vertical axis as the first and second protrusions slide along the inner walls. The first and second protrusions of the carrier also form a frictional engagement with the inner walls of the first and second channel insertion portions.

Clamp for headwear and other objects
20190254457 · 2019-08-22 ·

A clamp for headwear and other objects. The clamp includes a movable arm pivotably coupled to a fixed arm, which is coupleable to a surface. An object can be inserted into the gap between the lower ends of the two arms. A spreader element in an extended position maintains the lower ends of the arms spread apart. A spring exerts a force on the upper ends of the arms so as to push the lower ends of the arms together. Insertion of an object into the gap moves the spreader into a withdrawn position, allowing the lower ends of the arms to grip the object. Pushing the upper ends of the arms together releases the object and replaces the spreader element in the extended position.
