Turbocharger and method of manufacturing floating bush

A turbocharger and a method of manufacturing a floating bush with which noise can be reduced, and the rotation speed can be increased. In a turbocharger in which a rotating shaft having a circular cross-section and connecting a turbine rotor and a compressor rotor is supported in a freely rotatable manner, at two axially separated positions via floating bushes, by an inner circumferential surface disposed so as to surround the rotating shaft in a bearing housing, an inner circumferential surface of each of the floating bushes has a non-circular shape in which the curvature of the cross-sectional shape varies in the circumferential direction.

Thrust washer

A thrust washer for a flange half-bearing may include a semi-annular panel having an inner edge and an outer edge. A plurality of hooking lugs may project inwardly from the inner edge of the panel. The hooking lugs may have at least one latching edge configured to engage with a corresponding opening in a bearing shell received by the thrust washer and prevent disconnection of the thrust washer and the bearing shell without deformation of the bearing shell. The hooking lugs may have a hooking lug inner portion proximate to a central part of the thrust washer around the inner edge of the panel for engaging against an edge of the corresponding opening of the bearing shell, and a hooking lug outer portion remote from the central part around the inner edge of the panel. The hooking lug inner portion may be thinner than the hooking lug outer portion.

Bearing 10 includes: a half bearing member having an inner circumferential face that slides against an associated shaft, and a plurality of recesses provided in a first end face in an axial direction of the associated shaft; a first flange member having a plurality of projections provided at positions corresponding to the plurality of recesses provided in the first end face; and a plurality of staking marks formed in a periphery of each recess when each recess is staked in a state where each of the plurality of projections is fitted to a corresponding one of the plurality of recesses in the first end face to fix the first flange member to the half bearing member. When staking marks formed on both sides of at least one of the plurality of recesses are viewed in a radial direction of the associated shaft, a volume of a deformed portion near a staking mark located outside in a circumferential direction is smaller than a volume of a deformed portion close to a staking mark located inside.

A half bearing has a concave portion, a concave portion, and a concave portion penetrating from the outer circumferential surface to the inner circumferential surface, and the washer has a convex portion, a convex portion, and a convex portion on the inner circumferential surface side. The washer is moved to the outer circumferential surface side of the half bearing in a bent state, the convex portion is inserted into the concave portion, the convex portion is aligned with the position of the concave portion, and the convex portion is aligned with the position of the convex portion. Next, when the half bearing returns to its shape before being bent, the convex portion is accommodated in the concave portion, and the convex portion is also accommodated in the concave portion. Even if an axial force acts on the sliding bearing, the protrusion, the protrusion, and the protrusion engages with the concave portion, the concave portion, and the concave portion, so that the washer and the washer are not detached from the half bearing.

Interlocking bearing

A modular plain bearing is provided. The modular plain bearing includes a first end portion having a terminal edge with a plurality of first fingers and a second end portion having a terminal edge with a plurality of second fingers. The plurality of fingers cooperatively engage to provide a snap fit connection between the parts. For longer plain bearings, a bearing extender is provided. The bearing extender includes at least a first connector having a plurality of first connector fingers. The bearing extender may include either a second connector opposite the first connector having a plurality of second connector fingers.
