Method and apparatus for determining acetabular component positioning
10398455 · 2019-09-03 ·

An instrument for establishing orientation of a pelvic prosthesis comprises a tripod having an angularly adjustable guide rod on it. The tips of the legs define a plane, and the guide rod is set by the surgeon to a defined orientation with respect to this plane on the basis of preoperative studies. In use, two of the legs of the instrument are positioned by the surgeon at defined anatomical locations on the pelvis (e.g., a point in the region of the posterior/inferior acetabulum and a point on the anterior superior iliac spine). The third leg then lands on the pelvis at a point determined by the position of the first two points, as well as by the separations between the third leg and the other two legs. The position of the guide rod then defines with respect to the actual pelvis the direction for insertion of a prosthesis.

Source wire assembly for radiographic applications

The present invention relates to a steel wire and transmission shaft connecting structure, a surgical robot, and a method. A base is included. Multiple transmission shafts penetrate through the base. A clamping block is arranged at one end of the transmission shaft. The transmission shaft is detachably clamped and fixed to a quick-connect shaft through the clamping block and a clamping slot structure arranged at one end of the quick-connect shaft. The other end of the quick-connect shaft penetrates through a butting seat and is then detachably fixed to a steel wire extending from a pipeline member. A shifting clamp is arranged between the butting seat and the pipeline member. The shifting clamp is provided with a through hole configured for the butting shaft to penetrate through. The through hole is composed of a first hole portion and a second hole portion.

VARIABLE-STIFFNESS ACTUATOR

A variable-stiffness actuator is to be installed into a flexible member and provide different degrees of stiffness to the flexible member. The actuator includes two hard members located apart from each other, and a shape-memory member connecting the hard members. The shape-memory member has a property of transitioning in phase between a first phase and a second phase. The shape-memory member is in a low stiffness state when in the first phase, and is in a high stiffness state when in the second phase. The actuator also includes a inducing member configured to cause a portion of the shape-memory member between the hard members to transition in phase between the first and second phases, and a urging member configured to urge the hard members in directions away from each other.

MEDICAL DEVICES INCLUDING RING MEMBERS AND CONNECTING MEMBERS

Medical devices and methods for making and using medical devices are disclosed. An example method for manufacturing a medical device may include cutting a tubular body into a plurality of ring members. The plurality of ring members may include a first ring member and a second ring member. A connecting member may extend between the first ring member and the second ring member. The method may also include disposing a polymeric member along the plurality of ring members to define a tubular member and articulating the tubular member to break the connecting member.

Rotational coupling device for surgical instrument with flexible actuators
10314603 · 2019-06-11 · ·

Rotational couplers for use with surgical devices that are actuated by semi-flexible actuators such as wires and the like. The couplers enable the actuators to apply various actuation motions to actuation features on the surgical device as well as other actuators to apply axial and rotational motions to the surgical device to manipulate the device into various orientations relative to an elongate shaft to which the device is movably attached.

CONTROL DEVICE FOR A SURGICAL INSTRUMENT

A movement transfer mechanism for a surgical scoping device, wherein a rotational proximal input force is transformed into a longitudinal force that is conveyed down the length of an instrument channel of the scoping device, where it is transformed again into an operational movement of a distal instrument. The operational movement can be rotational movement, but may be any movement that changes the orientation or configuration of the distal instrument. By conveying a linear force along the instrument channel rather than a twisting force, the problems of slipping and discontinuous operation of the distal instrument due to friction between the instrument and the instrument channel can be reduced or eliminated.

AIR BEARING AND ROTOR SYSTEM

Provided is a rotor system including: a rotating shaft structure including a shaft and a thrust disc formed in a radial direction of the shaft; at least one journal air bearing including a journal bearing support which is made of a rigid body to support a load applied to the shaft by air, a journal spring which encloses an outer surrounding surface of the journal bearing support to provide a elastic support force to the journal bearing support, and a journal damper which encloses the outer surrounding surface of the journal bearing support to dissipate energy from vibration applied to the journal bearing support; and at least one thrust air bearing including a thrust bearing support which is made of a rigid body to support a load applied to the thrust disc by air, a thrust spring which is positioned on one surface of the thrust bearing support to provide a elastic support force to the thrust bearing support, and a thrust damper which is positioned on one surface of the thrust bearing support to dissipate energy from vibration applied to the thrust bearing support.

Thrust Flange For X-Ray Tube With Internal Cooling Channels
20190164716 · 2019-05-30 ·

A bearing structure for an X-ray tube is provided that includes a journal bearing shaft with a radially protruding thrust bearing flange encased within a bearing housing or sleeve. The sleeve includes a thrust seal that is engaged with the sleeve in a manner to maintain coaxiality for the rotating liquid metal seal formed in the sleeve about the shaft. The shaft includes a central bore containing a cooling tube that directs coolant within the bore to maximize the heat transfer from the shaft to the coolant, allowing materials with lower thermal conductivities, such as steel, to be used to form the bearing shaft. The thrust flange on the shaft is formed with channel(s) therein that enable the coolant and/or the liquid metal to effect greater heat transfer on the components of the sleeve through the thrust flange, thereby reducing thermal deformation of the bearing components.
