Method and apparatus for determining acetabular component positioning
10299807 · 2019-05-28 ·

An instrument for establishing orientation of a pelvic prosthesis comprises a tripod having an angularly adjustable guide rod on it. The tips of the legs define a plane, and the guide rod is set by the surgeon to a defined orientation with respect to this plane on the basis of preoperative studies. In use, two of the legs of the instrument are positioned by the surgeon at defined anatomical locations on the pelvis (e.g., a point in the region of the posterior/inferior acetabulum and a point on the anterior superior iliac spine). The third leg then lands on the pelvis at a point determined by the position of the first two points, as well as by the separations between the third leg and the other two legs. The position of the guide rod then defines with respect to the actual pelvis the direction for insertion of a prosthesis.

Adapter with centering mechanism for articulation joint
10299790 · 2019-05-28 · ·

A joint assembly of an adapter defines a first longitudinal axis and includes first and second hinges, first and second rings, a joint cover, and a biasing mechanism. The joint cover has first and second cover portions. The first ring is pivotally coupled to the first hinge and the first cover portion is pivotally coupled to the first hinge to define a first joint center. The second ring is pivotally coupled to the second cover portion and the second hinge is pivotally coupled to the second ring to define a second joint center that is spaced from the first joint center. The first and second joint centers define a cover axis of the joint cover. The biasing mechanism is engaged with the first ring and the joint cover to bias the joint cover towards an aligned configuration in which the cover axis is aligned with the first longitudinal axis.

A telescopic table frame part, in particular a height-adjustable table leg (26), comprising an outer tube (12) and an inner tube (10) which can be moved relative to the former and which is guided by means of a sliding guide, characterized in that the sliding guide comprises at least one injection-molded sliding element (24) made from a slide-promoting plastic, a method for producing a sliding guide for guiding an inner tube (10) in an outer tube (12) movable relative thereto of a telescopic table frame part, comprising attaching of at least one sliding element (24) made from a slide-promoting plastic onto the inner surface (23) of the outer tube (12) or onto the outer surface (25) of the inner tube (10) by injection molding, wherein said plastic is introduced into the inside of the inner tube through an injection molding tool access opening (16) in same, and an apparatus for carrying out the method.

CANNULA LOCK WITH A BRAKE THAT ROTATES AND ANCHORS THAT DEPLOY INTO THE BONE AGAINST WHICH THE CANNULA LOCK IS SET
20190133708 · 2019-05-09 · ·

A cannula lock for holding a medical device static in a select orientation relative to tissue. The cannula lock includes a shell with anchors. The anchors are deployed to the hold the shell static to the tissue. A pivoting brake (95) is disposed in the shell. The brake holds the medical device. When the orientation of the brake, by extension, the orientation of the device is established, the brake is set. The brake is set by expanding the brake (95) outwardly against the inner surfaces of the shell so as to hold the brake and medical device in the select orientation.

Flexible Shaft for Use as an Internal Splint for Industrial Application
20190120282 · 2019-04-25 ·

A flexible connecting rod is manufactured from a rigid material and having a substantially cylindrical hollow body, a leading segment with a securing area and a trailing segment having a trailing edge and a securing area. The body has at least one flexible center section, each having at least one slot to provide flexibility. The slot follows a sinuous, serpentine path to form a plurality of interlocking teeth that can follow a helical or a concentric path. Each slot has a proximal end spaced from the trailing segment and a distal end spaced from the leading segment. With multiple slots the proximal end of a slot can be spaced from, and separated by an inflexible section, or adjacent to, a distal end of a subsequent slot.

Syringe holder

A syringe adapter for holding various sizes of syringes. A syringe includes a tip, a barrel, a plunger, a flange, and a syringe axis extending from the tip to the plunger. An example syringe holder attaches to a fluid delivery system and includes a syringe clamp. The syringe holder holds a syringe stationary in the syringe clamp. The syringe clamp is offset from the fluid delivery system such that the syringe, or connections to the syringe, does not interfere with other components of the fluid delivery system. The syringe holder may include a support bar, which the syringe clamp can slide along. Alternatively, the syringe clamp may be rotatable.

Selectively lockable ball and socket joint

A ball and socket joint assembly is disclosed that includes a body defining a cavity, a collet disposed in the cavity to receive a ball of a connector, and an actuator shaft coupled to the collet for rotating and translating the collet in the cavity. The cavity has a distal opening to accept the ball and an engagement feature extending into the cavity. The collet has an outer diameter larger than the opening in the body when the ball is disposed in the collet, and the collet has a corresponding engagement feature around at least a portion of the outer surface for receiving the engagement feature and converting rotation of the compression member into translation of the compression member along a proximal-distal axis of the body. The collet is compressed against the opening of the cavity when the collet is advanced distally against the opening.

Double row angular ball bearing for CT scanning device

A double-row angular contact ball bearing for a CT scanning device includes an inner member including a pair of raceway rings. The raceway rings have positioning holes into which a positioning member is inserted, to thereby suppress radial decentering of the raceway rings. Both the raceway rings are fastened by fixing bolts. The raceway rings have opposed end surfaces, and are fastened by the fixing bolts to bring the end surfaces into abutment against each other to apply a preload at a fixed position between balls and raceway surfaces. The following relationship is set: Db/h0.26, where Db represents a diameter of each of the balls, and h represents a radial dimension from a center of each of the balls to an inner diameter of the inner member.

HINGE FOR ORTHOPEDIC DEVICE

A hinge has a hinge body forming an articulating section extending between a first end and a second end of the hinge. The articulating section is adapted to bend from a neutral axis when the first and second ends are parallel to an angular range in which the first end is arranged among a plurality of angles within the angular range relative to the second end. The hinge body may define a receptacle along the articulating section, and an insert may be provided for insertion into the receptacle. The insert can modify the stiffness of the hinge in the angular range and is arranged parallel to the neutral axis.
