A locking spacer assembly for mounting on an elongated member and a method of use thereof are disclosed. A first element with a first end and a second end fits over the elongated member with the first end, which may be beveled, facing outwards. A second element with a beveled end fits over the elongated member with the beveled end facing inwards toward the beveled end of the first element. Finally, a flexible member fits over the elongated member between the first element and the second element. The flexible member has a cross-section selected to be compressed and fit within a space formed when the first element and second element are compressed together on the elongated member so that the compression of the flexible member secures the locking spacer assembly to the elongated member so long as the compression is maintained.

The sealing device includes a snap-engagement tooth for engaging with the collar made along the outer lateral surface so that the snap-engagement tooth snap-fits in a contoured annular groove made along the collar about the axis and an annular gasket made of thermoplastic elastomer being co-injection-molded inside a gripping seat made in the cylindrical mounting wall on the same side as the snap-engagement tooth, substantially at a corner defined between the cylindrical mounting wall and an annular reading wall transverse to the cylindrical mounting wall.

A device has the shape of a ring (4) that is applied on the vehicle axle in such a way that it encircles it. The ring (4) consists of at least two parts (4a, 4b) that are adapted for permanent connection around the vehicle axle. The mechanism (5) consists of a circumferential cavity (5a) in the inner part of the ring where a permanent magnet (5b) is freely positioned, at least one coil (5c), preferably four coils (5c) being positioned along its perimeter. The device (2) for communication of measured quantities is a wireless transmitter with a GSM interface or radio-frequency interface configured for communication of measured values together with the identification code (3) of the axle to an external processing unit.

The first outer segment and second outer segment form a substantially cylindrical exterior surface. One or more shim structures are formed around the inner member and are disposed at least partially inside the hollow annular outer structure. The shim structure has a radially outward facing surface and a radially inward facing surface. One or more layers of elastomeric material are disposed on each of the radially outward facing surface and the radially inward facing surface.
