Drive shaft with non-cylindrical shape

A drive shaft body extends between axial ends and has an outer peripheral surface with undulations extending between relatively greater and smaller outer diameters. The undulations extend along a non-zero angle relative to a circumferential direction defined relative to a drive axis of the drive shaft. The undulations extend along a spiral. The drive shaft body is formed of a fiber-reinforced composite material.

A pivot assembly for a control lever. The pivot assembly include a primary pivot bearing arranged about a longitudinal axis (A) and a redundant pivot bearing arranged about the longitudinal axis (A). The redundant pivot bearing is configured to become operative as a bearing in the event that the primary pivot bearing malfunctions, and to produce haptic feedback in the control lever throughout operation of the redundant pivot bearing.

STRESS REDUCING FASTENER ASSEMBLY

A system includes a first structure having an upper surface coupled to a second structure by a fastener assembly including a bushing positioned within an opening in the upper surface of the first structure. An inner opening of the bushing defines an inner diameter, and a fastener is at least partially positioned within the bushing. An outer surface of the fastener defines an outer diameter of the fastener. The bushing and the fastener are configured such that a space between the outer surface of the fastener and the inner opening of the bushing defines a gap which increases in size in a direction extending from the upper surface to the lower surface of the first structure.

METHOD FOR CLEANING ROLLING BEARING AND ROLLING BEARING CLEANING DEVICE

Provided is a method for cleaning a rolling bearing and a rolling bearing cleaning device capable of cleaning a rolling bearing easily in a short time. The method for cleaning a rolling bearing including a plurality of rolling elements and a race provided with a race groove along which the rolling elements roll involves arranging a cleaning liquid in a pressurized state on one side in an axial direction of the rolling bearing across a whole circumference thereof with respect to a gap between the rolling elements and the race groove, and cleaning the rolling bearing by passing the cleaning liquid through the gap from one side in the axial direction toward the gap on the other side thereof.

Bearing assembly of a hinge coupling a first component and a second component
11480214 · 2022-10-25 · ·

A bearing assembly of a hinge coupling first and second components includes an outer ring secured to the second component having an axial primary bore with a primary inner surface. An inner ring axially rotates, and has a primary outer surface rollingly contacting the primary inner surface, defining a primary sliding path with a primary friction coefficient. The inner ring includes a secondary axial bore with a secondary inner surface. An inner shaft in the secondary bore is secured to the first component and is axially rotatable. The inner shaft has a secondary outer surface rollingly contacting the secondary inner surface defining a secondary sliding path with a second friction coefficient. One of the sliding paths has a triboelectric layer surface frictionally generating an electrical current when that sliding path is engaged. A transmission element transmits, to a failure detection system, a signal due to such electrical current.

Split gimbal
11479343 · 2022-10-25 · ·

A gimbal having a split design, which can be used in an assembly for actuating an aerodynamic high lift device, is described. The gimbal enables a rotating load path when a force is transferred from the actuator to the high lift device via the gimbal. In particular, the split design can include two receivers which can be coupled to posts extending from a nut. The nut can be secured to a shaft which receives a force generated by the actuator. In one embodiment, the actuator can rotate the shaft to cause the gimbal to translate along the shaft. The split design provides a more compact form factor and is lighter in weight than traditional gimbal designs.

External Rotor Aircraft Motor Having Force Isolated Cantilevered Rotor

A high-efficiency, high specific power electric motor/generator for aircraft use provides a cantilevered external rotor removed from load thrust. and vibration by an isolator and hearing set between the rotor and stator reducing material demands and weight otherwise required for stiffness to preserve close rotor/stator proximity.

Bearing configuration for an electronic motor
11605998 · 2023-03-14 · ·

Disclosed is an electronic motor with two bearings. The motor is structured so that, when loaded, the majority of the load (e.g., a radial load) is borne by one of the bearings. The bearing that bears a greater load may be larger and, thus, better suited for a heavy load. In some embodiments, the larger bearing may include rolling elements that have respective radii larger than respective radii of rolling elements of the other bearing by a ratio of at least 1.5 (150%). In some embodiments, the larger bearing may have an outer race with a radius that is greater than a radius of the outer race of the smaller bearing by a ratio of at least 1.5. In some embodiments, the motors may include a third bearing between the two bearings. The third bearing may reduce vibration in the motor.
