Axial magnetic bearing for centrifugal refrigerant compressor
This disclosure relates to an axial magnetic bearing for a centrifugal refrigerant compressor, and a corresponding system and method. A centrifugal refrigerant compressor system according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, an impeller connected to a shaft, and a magnetic bearing system supporting the shaft. The magnetic bearing system includes an axial magnetic bearing, which itself includes a first permanent magnet configured to generate a first bias flux, a second permanent magnet axially spaced-apart from the first permanent magnet and configured to generate a second bias flux, and an electromagnet. The electromagnet includes a coil arranged radially outward of the first and second permanent magnets, and the electromagnet is configured to selectively generate either a first control flux or a second control flux to apply a force to the shaft in a first axial direction or second axial direction opposite the first axial direction, respectively.
BEARING FOR SUPPORTING A ROTATING COMPRESSOR SHAFT
A compressor includes a housing, a shaft that is rotated relative to the housing to compress a working fluid, and a foil bearing that supports the shaft. The foil bearing includes a top foil. The foil bearing is a foil gas bearing that is backed up by a ball bearing, or a mesh foil bearing with an actuator to compress a wire mesh dampener. A heat transfer circuit includes a compressor and a working fluid. The compressor includes a shaft that is rotated to compress the working fluid, and a foil bearing for supporting the shaft as it rotates.
VAPOR COMPRESSION SYSTEM AND METHOD OF EXTENDING SERVICE LIFE OF SAME
A vapor compression system including a motor having a housing and a shaft having an axis, the shaft urgable into rotational movement by the motor for powering a system component. A primary bearing and a secondary bearing are positioned in the housing for rotatably supporting the shaft, the primary bearing rotatably supporting the shaft during normal system operation. A first bearing stop and a second bearing stop are positioned on opposite sides of the secondary bearing for transmitting axial forces generated along the shaft for reaction by the motor housing during abnormal system operation. At least a portion of corresponding surfaces of each of the first bearing stop and the second bearing stop facing the secondary bearing have a protective overlying layer of material applied thereto.
Ice Maker with a Radial and Thrust Bearing
An ice maker includes a casing that defines a chamber. The casing extends between a top portion and a bottom portion. An extruder die is mounted to the casing at the top portion of the casing. An auger is disposed within the chamber of the casing. A radial sleeve bearing engages the auger at the bottom portion of the casing. A radial and thrust bearing engages the auger at the extruder die. A related refrigerator appliance is also provided.
Rotating device
A rotating device according to the present invention includes a motor including an outer shell, a rotating shaft protruding from the outer shell, a first inner bearing supporting the rotating shaft, and a second inner bearing supporting the rotating shaft, a plurality of gears configured to transmit rotation of the motor to an external device, and a casing. A first outer bearing and a second outer bearing are arranged at the casing, and the first outer bearing and the second outer bearing rotatably support portions of the rotating shaft protruding from end surfaces at both sides of the outer shell in a longitudinal direction of the rotating shaft.
FOIL BEARING LUBRICATION
A compressor assembly, a vapor compression system incorporating the same, and a method for operating the vapor compression system are provided. The compressor assembly includes a motor for driving a rotating shaft, a foil bearing for supporting the rotating shaft, a compression mechanism for increasing the pressure of a working fluid, a supply line in fluid communication with the compression mechanism, and a heating apparatus for heating the working fluid. The supply line is configured for injecting the working fluid (e.g., from downstream of the compression mechanism) toward the foil bearing. The method provides for the monitoring of the temperature of the working fluid. When the temperature of the working fluid is less than 3° F. of superheat it is heated prior to being injected toward the foil bearing. The heating of the working fluid prevents, or at least mitigates, liquid from being transferred to the foil bearing.
MAGNETIC BEARING CONTROL DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD
Magnetic bearing control device and control method are disclosed. A magnetic bearing control device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a bearing control unit for outputting a plurality of switch control signals on the basis of gap information of a bearing coil and a rotor and current information applied to the bearing coil; and a coil driving unit for turning a plurality of self-formed switching elements on/off in accordance with the plurality of switch control signals and controlling the amount of current applied to the bearing coil and thus adjusting the magnetic field strength between the bearing coil and the rotor. The bearing control unit generates and outputs the plurality of switch control signals such that bootstrap capacitor charging time of the coil driving unit may be secured. Therefore, a magnetic bearing control circuit structure may be simplified by means of an additional bootstrap capacitor structure.
