LIFT SYSTEM WITH LOWERING MECHANISM
A movement system for use with an overhead patient lift system includes a motor. A drum is operatively coupled to the motor. The drum is configured to be selectively driven by the motor to rotate in one of a clockwise direction and a counter-clockwise direction. A lifting strap is coupled to the drum. The lifting strap is extendable and retractable with respect to a carriage of the overhead patient lifting system as the drum rotates. A manual release operatively coupled to the drum is actuatable to selectively disengage the drum from the motor to allow the lifting strap to be manually extended. Also disclosed is an overhead patient lift system including the movement system and a method for manually extending a lifting strap of an overhead patient lift system.
Decoupler clutch engagement surface with selected surface finish
In an aspect, the invention is directed to a clutched device that includes a clutch input member, a clutch output member, and a wrap spring clutch. The wrap spring clutch is engageable with the clutch input member and the clutch output member and has a radially outer surface and a radially inner surface. One of the radially outer and inner surfaces is engageable with a clutch engagement surface on one of the clutch input member and the clutch output member. The clutch engagement surface has a surface finish that includes peaks and valleys, wherein the peaks engage the wrap spring clutch and each have a selected width.

Wrap spring torque nipple
The present disclosure describes a wrap spring torque nipple that includes a first helical spring, a second helical spring, and a middle portion connected to and between the first helical spring and the second helical spring. The first helical spring and the second helical spring have different rotational helix orientations, and the first helical spring is configured to receive an input shaft and the second helical spring is configured to receive an output shaft, wherein the wrap spring transfers rotational power up to a defined torsional value from the input shaft to the output shaft.
