Dynamic Rotary Locking Member

A selectively locking rotational bearing element includes at least one bearing element supporting an outer race for rotational movement and a plurality of locking elements disposed circumferentially about an inner surface of the outer race. An actuator selectively moves the plurality of locking elements into engagement with the outer race to restrict rotational movement of the outer race and selectively move the plurality of locking elements away from engagement with the outer race such that the outer race is free to rotate relative to the locking elements.

Hydraulic powertrain component mount with variable stiffness

A powertrain component mount includes a housing, a main rubber element, a hydraulic body, a membrane and a valve. The main rubber element has an outer armature, an inner armature and an isolating element coupled to the armatures, the isolating element being formed of a material that is more flexible than the outer armature and the inner armature, wherein the main rubber element defines at least part of a fluid flow path. The hydraulic body supports the outer armature of the main rubber element, defines part of the fluid flow path, a fluid chamber, and part of a control chamber communicated with the fluid flow path. The hydraulic body has a port open to the control chamber. The membrane defines part of the control chamber and the valve has a valve head movable between a first position closing the port and a second position spaced from the port.

Pulley Structure

The present invention relates to a pulley structure (1) equipped with an outer rotating body (2), an inner rotating body (3), and a coil spring (4) provided between the outer rotating body (2) and the inner rotating body (3). The coil spring (4) is configured so as to undergo torsional deformation in a diameter-expanding or a diameter-contracting direction, thereby engaging the outer rotating body (2) and the inner rotating body (3) and transmitting torque, and to undergo torsional deformation in the direction opposite the direction in which torque is transmitted, thereby entering a disengaged state in which the coil spring slides with the outer rotating body (2) or the inner rotating body (3), thus interrupting the transmission of torque. The number of windings of the coil spring (4) is in a range between [M-0.125] and M (both inclusive), where M is a natural number.

Method for controlling electromagnetic wedge clutch

A transmission control unit for a wedge clutch, comprising a controller configured to send one or more signals to a switch connected to the wedge clutch, the switch being configured to demagnetize the wedge clutch by sending current in a first direction to a coil of the wedge clutch.

Portable brush cutter

Provided is a portable brush cutter with reduced weight and size due to its simple structure with a small number of components that is capable of improving durability and the like as well as effectively suppressing torsional vibration of a transmission shaft. In the portable brush cutter, a one-way clutch to prevent generation of torsional vibration in a rotation transmission path is interposed between an output shaft and a transmission shaft, and bearings are adjacently mounted on the opposite sides of the one-way clutch.

DUAL ACTION MAGNETIC BRAKES AND RELATED METHODS

Dual action magnetic brakes and related methods are provided. In one aspect, such a brake includes a housing, a rotatable shaft extending through the housing, and a braking assembly in the housing. The braking assembly includes a coil and a braking member. The coil can generate a magnetic field when energized with electrical current. The braking member, and one or more flexible members attached thereto, can move in response to the presence or absence of the magnetic field to facilitate rotation or non-rotation of the shaft.

CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH HAVING TWO SERIES-CONNECTED CLUTCH ELEMENTS

A centrifugal clutch (1) is provided for a drive train of a motor vehicle, having a motor-driven torque input component (2) and a downstream first clutch element (3) which has at least one first centrifugal mass (4) which can be displaced radially to transmit torque in order to move into a non-positive connection with a transmission-side torque output component (5) when in the displaced state. A second clutch element (6) having a second centrifugal mass (7), which can be displaced radially into a non-positive connection with an intermediate component (8) when in the displaced state to transmit torque, is connected in series with the first clutch element in the torque path.

Wedge clutch with anti-expansion retainer

A clutch includes a carrier defining an annular groove and a hub coaxial with the carrier and defining an outer surface. The hub is axially movable relative to the carrier between at least a first position and a second position. A wedge disk has a first edge disposed on the outer surface, a second edge disposed in the annular groove, and a face extending between the edges and defining an annular shoulder. The disk engages between the carrier and the hub when the hub is in the first position to lock the clutch, and the carrier and the hub are rotatable relative to each other when the hub is in the second position. An annular retainer is configured to prevent radial expansion of the disk when the hub is in the second position and to permit radial expansion of the disk when the hub is in the first position.
