Clutch apparatus

An excessive torque releasing type clutch apparatus comprises an outer ring, an inner ring arranged radially inside and coaxially with the outer ring and rotatably relative to the outer ring, a torque transmitting portion capable of transmitting torque between the outer ring and the inner ring, and a restricting mechanism for restricting excessive torque from being input from an input torque transmitting member to a driving ring of the outer ring and the inner ring and restricting excessive inverse torque that is input to a driven ring of the outer ring and the inner ring from being input to the input torque transmitting member. Treatment steps for securing strength of constituent members of the clutch apparatus in manufacturing be simplified or omitted.

A rotorcraft having pusher propeller generated power during autorotations. The rotorcraft has an engine powered mode and an autorotation mode. The rotorcraft includes an engine and a drivetrain configured to receive torque and rotational energy from the engine in the engine powered mode. A main rotor system is coupled to the drivetrain and is rotatable to generate lift and forward thrust for the rotorcraft in the engine powered mode. A pusher propeller is coupled to the drivetrain and is rotatable to generate forward thrust for the rotorcraft in the engine powered mode. In the autorotation mode, the pusher propeller is aerodynamically driven responsive to airflow therethrough and the drivetrain is configured to receive torque and rotational energy from the pusher propeller, thereby providing power to the main rotor system.

A one-way clutch, including: a case; a drive plate enclosed by the case and defining openings; a first plate non-rotatably connected to the case and defining a first opening; a rotatable actuator plate; a strut including a central portion, an engagement portion, and a control portion; and a spring. In a locked mode: the spring pivots the engagement portion into an opening of the drive plate, a rotation of the drive plate in a first direction is enabled, and a rotation of the drive plate in a second direction is blocked. To transition from the locked mode to a free-wheel mode, in which the rotation of the drive plate in the second direction is enabled, the actuator plate is rotated by an actuator to contact the control portion and pivot the strut to displace the engagement portion out of the opening of the drive plate.

Centrifugal lift-off ratcheting one-way clutch with rocker pockets and friction reduction

A one-way clutch, including: an outer race; an inner race; and a rocker assembly. The outer race includes: a first outer race plate defining a first rocker pocket; and a second outer race plate non-rotatably connected to the first outer race plate and defining a second rocker pocket. The inner race is axially disposed between the first and second outer race plates. The rocker assembly is at least partly disposed in the first and second rocker pockets and includes a rocker arranged to contact the inner race, a spring guide including a spring arm, and a spring wrapped around the spring arm and urging the rocker in a pivot direction. The one-way clutch includes: a first annular thrust washer axially disposed between the first outer race plate and the inner race; or a friction-reducing coating adhered to the first outer race plate and facing the inner race.
