Shear pin and drive shaft spring brake in electrical submersible pump

An electrical submersible well pump assembly (ESP) has a spring brake having helical turns mounted between the shaft and one of the housings. The spring brake allows free rotation of the shaft in a driving direction and stops the shaft from rotating in a reverse direction. The spring brake may have one end be affixed to the housing to rotate in unison in both directions. Alternately, the spring brake may have one end affixed to the shaft for rotation with the shaft. Further, the spring brake could be free of being connected to either the shaft or the housing. A shear member may be mounted between the shaft and the housing to prevent any rotation of the shaft during run-in.

In an aspect, a decoupler is provided for mounting to a shaft in an accessory drive between an engine and an accessory in a vehicle. The decoupler includes a pulley, a hub, a wrap spring clutch, an isolation spring, and a carrier that is positioned to hold an end of the wrap spring clutch and an end of the isolation spring. The carrier has a slot for holding the end of the wrap spring clutch and wherein the slot has a slot exit through which the wrap spring clutch exits from the slot to wrap around an exterior of the carrier. The carrier has a bridge configured to fail before the end wall fails. This permits the carrier to open radially so as to bring the end wall into abutment with a wall of the pulley reducing stress in the end wall.

Pulley structure

A pulley structure may be equipped with an outer rotating body, an inner rotating body, and a coil spring. The pulley structure has a cross section of the spring wire of the coil spring along a direction running along the rotational axis and parallel to the rotational axis being a trapezoidal shape, and the length of an inner-diameter-side portion in the rotational axis direction in the cross section being greater than the length of an outer-diameter-side portion in the rotational axis direction in the cross section.

Mechanism for a two-speed engine accessory drive system in a vehicle

A vehicle has an internal combustion engine, an accessory, and a system having first and second belts extending between a drive assembly rotatably connected to a crankshaft of the engine and a driven assembly rotatably connected to a driveshaft of the accessory. One of the drive and driven assemblies comprises a mechanism with a shaft supporting first and second pulleys, with the first and second pulleys associated with the first and second belts, respectively. The first pulley is selectively engaged with the shaft in response to an engine speed being below a threshold value, and the second pulley is selectively engaged with the shaft in response to the engine speed being above the threshold value.

The current document is directed to a two-way, by-passable, overrunning clutch incorporated within a mechanical prosthetic knee that provides functionality similar to a biological knee or incorporated in another articulated device, such as a robotic or orthotic articulated device or member. The currently disclosed two-way, by-passable, overrunning clutch allows for two-way free rotation when disabled, but, when enabled, prevents rotation in one direction while allowing free rotation in the other direction. In the mechanical prosthetic knee, the two-way, by-passable, overrunning clutch is enabled by application of a mechanical force and disabled by removal of the mechanical force.

Isolating Decoupler

An isolating decoupler comprising a shaft, a pulley journalled to the shaft on at least one bearing, a one-way clutch engaged with the shaft, a torsion spring engaged between the one-way clutch and the pulley, the shaft comprises an inner race of the at least one bearing, and the torsion spring having an end welded to the one-way clutch and having another end welded to the pulley.

Reverse input lock clutch

A reverse input lock clutch has a fitting portion of a spring stopper rotatably fitted in a cylindrical dent formed by being surrounded by an inner diameter portion on an end surface of an output member on a side opposite to a fixed member. A locking portion rotates with the fitting portion while having one end of a first elastic member locked by a holder groove. Adjustment of the rotation position of the lock portion with respect to the output member is made by rotating the fitting portion within a range of a groove length of an adjustment groove with respect to the output member and anchoring an adjustment pin at a desired rotation position to the adjustment pin fixing portion so as to fix the fitting portion on the output member.

Belt pulley decoupler

A belt pulley decoupler for transmitting drive torque from the belt of an auxiliary unit belt drive to the shaft of one of the auxiliary units is provided, including: a belt pulley, a hub to be mounted on the shaft, a first sleeve, which is rotationally fixed in the pulley, a second sleeve, which is rotatable in the pulley, and a series circuit of a decoupler spring and a disposed in the drive torque flow between the belt pulley and the hub. The wrap-around band ends, which couple the two sleeves to one another non-rotatably while transmitting the drive torque, extend the wrap-around band radially. One of the two sleeves has a circumferentially extending slot and the wrap-around band end coupled to this sleeve is configured as a leg, which interlockingly engages in the slot non-rotatably in a direction of rotation of the drive torque.

Belt pulley decoupler

A belt pulley decoupler (1) for the transfer of torque between the belt of a belt drive and a shaft (2) in drive connection therewith, includes: a hub (5) to be fastened to the shaft, a belt pulley (3) rotatably mounted on the hub, and two helical torsion springs (18, 19) which transfer the torque between the belt pulley and the hub and are connected in parallel.
