Brake discs, systems, and methods may include a brake disc and a brake drum. In various embodiments, the brake disc includes a central hub, configured to engage with an axial shaft. The brake disc includes protrusions, each of which is coupled to the central hub and extends perpendicularly from the central hub. The brake disc includes expansion components, each of which is coupled to the central hub at two locations. Each expansion component surrounds an outer periphery of one of the protrusions. The expansion components define a segmented periphery configured as a braking surface. The brake drum is configured to have an inner diameter that is larger than an outer diameter of the brake disc. The outer diameter of the brake disc is defined by the segmented periphery, such that an inner surface of the brake drum is concentric around the segmented periphery of the brake disc.

Method of assembling a drum brake device includes positioning a portion of a brake shoe (22) support structure (40, 42) near an opening of a brake actuating cylinder (80); manipulating the support structure (40, 42) so that a window (44) of the support structure (40, 42) is received over a portion of a shoe mount (50); moving the support structure (40, 42) relative to the shoe mount (50) so that the portion of the support structure (40, 42) is received into the brake actuating cylinder (80) and the support structure (40, 42) is engaged by the shoe mount (50) in a manner that the shoe mount (50) restricts movement of the brake shoe (22) in two dimensions and allows selective movement in a third dimension; and securing the brake shoe (22) in an installed position by placing the drum (26) over the brake shoe (22) with the braking surface facing the friction lining.

An EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) apparatus may include: a housing unit; a motor unit mounted in the housing unit; a worm wheel gear unit engaged and rotated with the motor unit; a piston unit connected with a brake shoe; and a nut unit mounted on the worm wheel gear unit, coupled to the piston unit, and moved by the rotation of the worm wheel gear unit so as to pressurize the piston unit. The housing unit is deformed by the movement of the piston unit and restricts the operation of the motor unit.

Braking apparatus, elevator hoisting machine that uses same, and buffering reaction force adjusting method for a braking apparatus

In a braking apparatus, a forcing device forces a movable portion in a direction that places a friction member in contact with a rotating body. A braking force releasing device displaces the movable portion in a direction in which the friction member separates from the rotating body in opposition to the forcing device. A buffering member is disposed between a fixed portion and the movable portion, and is made of a flexible material. A deforming device deforms the buffering member by pressing the buffering member in a direction that is perpendicular to the direction of displacement of the movable portion.
