Brake caliper tool

A tool for retracting pistons into cylinder bores is disclosed, with a narrow gap between facing pressure plates allowing use of the tool in tight places, and ratcheting spreading of the facing pressure plates causing outward moving of the pistons, enabling work to be performed, wherein movement of a threaded stud through a coupler moves a first pressure plate.

Miniature Brake and Method of Assembly

A brake and method of assembly are provided. The brake includes a friction plate configured for coupling to a rotatable body for rotation with the rotatable body about an axis of rotation, a pressure plate disposed about the axis on a first side of the friction plate and fixed against rotation, and an armature plate disposed about the axis on a second side of the friction plate. An electromagnet is disposed about the axis on an opposite side of the armature plate relative to the friction plate. A spring biases the armature plate in a first axial direction towards the friction plate and away from the electromagnet to engage the brake. A fastener couples the pressure plate to the electromagnet. The fastener conforms to a space between opposed surfaces of the pressure plate and the electromagnet and, upon hardening, bonds the pressure plate to the electromagnet.

Caliper piston tool

In order for hydraulic disk brakes to function properly over time, associated brake pads are changed periodically. In order to exchange old brake pads for replacement brake pads, a disk brake may require pushing back the brake pistons within a brake caliper body in order to make room for installation of replacement pads. Current tools and methods typically require removal of a wheel from a vehicle, removal of a brake rotor from the wheel, and/or removal of the brake caliper body from a rotor. The presently disclosed caliper piston tool allows brake pads to be replaced without dismantling various components of the vehicle, resulting in significant time and cost savings as well as convenience for do-it-yourself and professional mechanics alike.

VEHICLE DISC BRAKE

The present invention is a vehicle disc brake for which incorrect installation of a friction pad can be prevented with a simple structure. The disc brake is provided with incorrect installation-preventing parts with which, if a friction pad (4) is installed with an incorrect installation orientation when a pair of tabs (10, 11) provided on the disc entry-side and disc exit-side of the back plate (4d) of a friction pad (4) is installed into pad guide grooves (9) formed on a caliper body (3) , the tabs bump into the caliper body (3) and prevent the incorrect installation. The incorrect installation-preventing parts are formed from caliper-side recesses (9d, 9e), which are formed in the pad guide grooves (9) towards the center of the caliper body, and tab-side protrusions (10a, 11a), which have shapes that correspond to the caliper-side recesses (9d, 9e).

Brake system

A brake system for a vehicle such as a bicycle is disclosed. The brake system may comprise an improved master cylinder assembly configured (e.g. manufactured/produced, assembled, etc.) so that a setting and/or adjustment of the brake stroke and/or lever action/actuation can be provided by any one independent mechanism (e.g. without any other adjustment mechanism) or by a combination of adjustment mechanisms (e.g. in a combination with one or more adjustment mechanism); operation of a mechanism for setting and/or adjusting the brake stroke may comprise a feature configured to engage a pushrod (e.g. by direct action on the pushrod or a feature of the pushrod or by indirect action through a link, adjuster, etc. configured to engage the pushrod). The master cylinder assembly may be configured to be set and/or adjusted/tuned within the indicated range to provide an intended performance and/or “feel” for the operator at the brake lever.

Aircraft braking system

A routine maintenance procedure performed in respect of a wheel of an aircraft landing gear is disclosed. Consumable brake lining material is integrated with the wheel. Re-treading or replacing the wheel tyre and inspecting or replacing the consumable brake lining material tyre are performed at the same successive intervals as part of the routine maintenance procedure. The sum volume and mass of brake material present on the aircraft may thus be reduced. Brake material providing for the demands of a maximum energy rejected take-off may be provided separately. The wheel may be made in one or two parts from carbon-fibre composite material. At least some of the brake material may be provided on an outwardly facing planar surface of the wheel.

METHOD OF CONTROLLING A BRAKE FOR SERVICE OPERATION
20220281431 · 2022-09-08 ·

A method of servicing a brake system, comprising: (a) moving an actuator of the brake system from a first position to a second position; (b) conducting a manual operation on the brake system when or after the actuator reaches the second position; and (c) after completing the manual operation, moving the actuator to a third position.

Disc brake piston retraction tool

A disc brake piston retraction tool includes a reversible ratchet wrench, a first pressure plate assembly, and a second pressure assembly. In the process of retracting a piston, a first engaging notch of a first L-shaped elastic plate of a first buckle member and a second engaging notch of a second L-shaped elastic plate of a second buckle member are pressed against a first force output shaft and a second force output shaft to provide an anti-rotation effect. Thus, when an operating handle of the reversible ratchet wrench is pulled back, it will not link a ratchet wheel, so as to carry out an effective operation of retracting the piston.
