Brake stroke logging indicator
A brake stroke logging indicator for determining brake stroke condition on a vehicle braking system comprising a moveable logger within a housing which logger can be moved within the housing from an initial position to a moved position, by the pressure from a brake pushrod. After the pressure from the brake pushrod has been released however, the logger remains in position in the housing. As such, the logger indicates the distance of the longest brake stroke traveled since the system was reset, without the need of a second person, or brake pedal jamming device. The indicating logger will always indicate the longest stroke traveled, where the driver has no need to hold the brake pedal down for inspection. Moreover, when the vehicle is stopped the indicating logger will indicate other mechanical problems that normally can be detected only when the vehicle is in motion.
WEAR VOLUME ESTIMATION DEVICE, WEAR VOLUME ESTIMATION METHOD, AND WEAR VOLUME ESTIMATION PROGRAM
A wear volume estimation device estimates a wear volume of a brake pad of a vehicle. A wear volume function expresses the wear volume as a function of a vehicle speed, a brake pressure, and a brake duration. The wear volume estimation device calculates the wear volume by using the wear volume function. Moreover, the wear volume estimation device estimates a temperature of a contact surface of the brake pad that comes in contact with a brake rotor, and updates temperature history information indicating at least a temperature history of the contact surface based on the temperature of the contact surface. The wear volume estimation device variably sets the wear volume function according to the temperature history of the contact surface indicated by the temperature history information acquired at a time of previous braking.
Brake Wear Gauge Assembly
A brake wear gauge assembly includes a plurality of wires that is each comprised of a bendable material such that each of the wires is retained in a desired shape for guiding between a brake rotor of a vehicle and a brake pad of a vehicle. A ring is provided that has each of the wires movably disposed thereon thereby facilitating the plurality of wires to be portable. A plurality of feeler gauges is each coupled to a respective one of the wires. Each of the feeler gauges can be inserted between the brake rotor and the brake pad and each of the feeler gauges has a unique measuring thickness with respect to each other. In this way the plurality of feeler gauges can measure a variety of distances between the brake rotor and the brake pad.
