Disc brake system and method for braking a vehicle
A disc brake system includes a first brake pad having a first type of friction material, a second brake pad having a second type of friction material different from the first type of friction material, and a poshrod arrangement configured to apply force in varying amounts on both the first brake pad and the second brake pad, the poshrod arrangement comprising an actuator movable to different, positions relative to the first brake pad and the second brake pad to vary a percentage of total braking force applied by the first brake pad and the second brake pad. A method for braking a vehicle is also provided.
Binder-free friction linings, process for their production and their use
Expanded graphite and/or vermiculite are introduced into the friction lining mixture to eliminate or substantially reduce the amount of binder present therein. The friction lining at most contains from 2.5% by weight of binder. By omitting/reducing binder, the production is very stable and the friction linings can be easily reproduced. The process steps of hardening (including the hardening furnace) and scorching (including the necessary equipment) can be omitted when making such friction linings.
FRICTION DISK HAVING MULTIPLE FRICTION MATERIALS
A friction disk includes a disk, a first friction material positioned on a first side of the disk, the first friction material having a first set of material properties, and a second friction material positioned radially outward from the first friction material on the first side of the disk, the second friction material having a second set of material properties different from the first set of material properties.
