Brake disc assembly
An article includes a structural core, one or more friction pads, and a plurality of elongated fasteners. The structural core includes two core surfaces and a plurality of pockets extending between the core surfaces. Each friction pad includes a pad surface and a friction surface opposite the pad surface. Each pad surface includes a planar pad surface configured to contact the core surface and a plurality of bosses extending from the first planar pad surface and including a bore. Each planar pad surface is at least about 50% of a surface area of the respective first and second pad surfaces. The plurality of bosses engages with the plurality of pockets to position the respective first and second friction pads relative to the structural core. The plurality of elongated fasteners passes through bores of corresponding bosses of friction pads to fasten the friction pads to the structural core.
Brake pad surface coating having predetermined design
A brake pad having a backing plate, friction lining, and a surface coating adhered to the friction lining. The surface coating may be formulated to generate a transfer layer on a brake rotor faster than the fiction lining alone. The surface coating may be adhered to the friction lining in a predetermined design.
FRICTION MATERIAL
A friction material includes a friction-generating layer and a base layer. The base layer includes base fibers and presents a bonding surface. The friction-generating layer includes friction-adjusting particles deposited on the base layer and presents a friction-generating surface facing opposite the bonding surface of the base layer. A curable resin is present in the friction-generating layer and the base layer. The friction material also includes a composition including a plurality of triglycerides. The composition is present in at least one of the friction-generating layer and the base layer. The plurality of triglycerides comprises polyunsaturated fatty acid in a content of from 60 to 90% by weight based on a total weight of the plurality of triglycerides included in the composition.

Brake Drum for a Vehicle Drum Brake
A brake drum for a drum brake, in particular of a motor vehicle, includes a cylindrical jacket and a support pot which axially adjoins the jacket and which has a hub ring portion to be secured to a wheel hub. The monolithic brake drum is formed at least in part of a fiber-reinforced plastic.
Composite brake disks and methods for coating
A brake disk formed of a light weight ceramic and ceramic composite materials, the brake disk having a coating overlying at least a portion of the brake disk. The brake disk includes parallel surfaces wherein at least a portion of the parallel surfaces are coated with a coating material to increase wear and decrease corrosion. The coating over the brake disk includes multiple layers of the coating material, wherein the coating material includes coating material particles configured to construct a pattern of repetition that is consistent with a lattice structure when applied over the parallel surfaces of the brake disk.

Brake pad with preformed multi-layer friction pad and shim
A method of assembling a brake pad includes impaling a first layer of a preformed multi-layer friction pad on piercing members of a rotor facing surface of a brake pad backing plate. A shim is concurrently assembled to a caliper facing surface of the backing plate.
Drum brake and brake shoe
A drum brake includes a brake drum with an attaching region for arranging the brake drum on a vehicle part, such as a wheel hub, and a shell region with a first contact face, and a friction lining with a second contact face which faces toward the shell region, the first and second contact face being curved along or in a radial plane.
Friction material
A friction material presents a friction generating surface and a bonding surface facing opposite said friction generating surface. The friction material includes structural fibers, friction particles, polyvinyl alcohol fibers, and a resin. A method of forming the friction material is also disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: combining the structural fibers, the friction particles, and the polyvinyl alcohol fibers having an average diameter of less than about 11 μm, an average length of less than about 4 mm, an average denier of less than about 1, to form a substrate material; impregnating the substrate material with the resin; and curing the resin to form the friction material.
