Dual Layer Sintered Metallic Clutch Friction Facing
20170152899 · 2017-06-01 ·

A method for forming a friction facing comprises placing a bonding powder mix in to a die, and placing a performance powder mix in to the die. Pressing the performance powder mix and the bonding powder mix creates a compact. Sintering the compact forms a friction facing. A clutch disc assembly can be formed. A clutch disc can comprise a mounting hole for securing a friction facing and a backer plate can comprise a pass-through hole. A mounting mechanism joins the mounting hole to the pass-through hole. The mounting mechanism comprises a head-height for a portion of the mounting mechanism that is mounted near the sintered compact. The bonding layer comprises a thickness corresponding to the head-height of the mounting mechanism.

Spreader unit for a motor vehicle drum brake

A spreader unit for a drum brake is provided with a readjustment device which ensures that the clearance remains substantially constant even in the case of wear on the brake linings. The readjustment device is arranged between actuating pistons and changes the spacing of the actuating pistons in at least one readjustment step when an actuating travel of the first and second brake shoe holders has exceeded a travel setpoint value. A thermally actuable blocking device mechanically prevents the execution of the readjustment step by the readjustment device at a temperature above a temperature setpoint value.

This disclosure relates to a braking member (1, 2) for a brake system (9) and a method for making it. The braking member (1, 2) comprises at least one friction portion (13, 23) intended to be put into contact with a component (2, 1) of the brake system (9) to produce a braking action due to a friction force. The surface (15, 25) and/or the friction portion (13, 23) is made of a composite material comprising diamond particles (41) and a binder (43).

Hand-held work implement and process for producing a braking device of a hand-held work implement

A hand-held work implement having a tool has a braking device for the tool that includes a brake band which wraps around a brake drum. The brake band and the brake drum undergo friction as they move relative to one another during braking. At least one of the band or drum comprises an austenitic steel, a duplex steel, super duplex steel, a nickel-base alloy or a cobalt-base alloy and has a base body and a marginal layer. The hardness of the marginal layer is approximately 150% to approximately 600% of the hardness of the base body and the carbide proportion in the marginal layer is less than approximately 0.5% by weight. A process for production of the foregoing includes diffusing carbon and/or nitrogen into a marginal layer at a temperature of less than 500 C.

Disk brake caliper piston system

A disk brake piston system having a piston having a metallic outer wall surrounding a central axis, the outer wall being of a material and a thickness which that could be formed by deep drawing; a metallic front wall closing one end of the outer wall, the front wall including a curved area extending toward an interior of the piston, the front wall being of a material and having a thickness that could be formed by deep drawing; and a sleeve positioned at least partially within the piston and configured to interface with an interior side surface of the outer wall such that the sleeve and the piston are restrained from rotating relative to one another around an axis parallel to the central axis, the sleeve comprising a flat or curved internal surface, having a non-circular cross-section, wherein the sleeve comprises a polymeric material.
