Brake carrier and method of manufacture
A brake carrier and a method of manufacture. The brake carrier may have leading and trailing brake pad abutments. The leading brake pad abutment may have an unmachined leading wall surface and an unmachined leading floor surface. The trailing brake pad abutment may have a trailing wall surface and a trailing floor surface, at least one of which may be machined.
Disc brake caliper, method for manufacturing a caliper and caliper spring
A disc brake caliper has a caliper body and a pair of pads and, in each side portion of the caliper body, a distal piston and a proximal piston, having radially distanced and aligned pressure centers.
DISC FOR A DISC BRAKE FOR MOTORCYCLES
A process for making a braking band for a disc of a disc brake for motorcycles provides performing a casting by centrifugal casting of a predefined quantity of cast iron, obtaining a tubular semi-finished product, transversely cutting the tubular semi-finished product, obtaining a plurality of semi-finished bands having a thickness substantially equal to a thickness of the braking band, and cooling the semi-finished bands, obtaining semi-finished bands in spheroidal cast iron or mainly in spheroidal cast iron. The semi-finished bands are subjected to a chip removal process to obtain finished braking bands.
Method for manufacturing angle-type air tool housing
A method for manufacturing an angle-type air tool housing is provided. The angle-type air tool housing includes a hollow tube having a first end and a second end that are open and are mutually in communication, and an overall housing formed by injection molding and enveloping the hollow tube, and having an accommodating chamber adjacent to the first end, an air channel adjacent to the second end and in communication with the accommodating chamber through the hollow tube, and a pair of recesses exposing a part of the hollow tube. Accordingly, the angle-type air tool housing that is a formed integral with the hollow tube is formed so as to achieve effects of reduced costs and weight.
HYBRID TORQUE TUBE
A hybrid torque tube for a brake assembly may comprise a tube portion having a centerline axis, and a conical back-leg portion extending from the tube portion. A stator spline may be formed on a radially outward surface of the tube portion. A foot may be formed on a radially inward surface of the tube portion. The tube portion is formed using a first manufacturing process and at least one of the conical back-leg, stator spline, or foot is formed using additive manufacturing.
Apparatus employing shear forces to transmit energy having flow altering structures configured to increase heat rejection from a working fluid and related method
A device that employs shear forces to transmit energy includes an outer housing assembly, a disk, and a reservoir with a working fluid. The disk is received in and rotatable relative to the outer housing assembly. A working cavity is formed between a rotor portion of the disk and the outer housing assembly into which the working fluid is received to create shear forces. A plurality of flow altering structures are disposed on the outer housing assembly and are configured to reduce a thickness of a boundary layer of the working fluid in the working cavity in areas that are local to the flow altering structures.
Brake discs
A brake disc for a high performance vehicle comprises a rotor 20 formed of grey cast iron and comprising a friction ring 24 annular about an axis of rotation 26 and, coaxial with the friction ring 24, a tubular flange 28 extending axially from the friction ring 24 to a free end 28a and having a wall 28e with a radially inner face 28c and a radially outer face 28d. A hub 22 formed of aluminum is cast over the flange 28 to encapsulate at least a portion of the wall 28e, with which it has a shrink-fit connection. The encapsulated portion of the wall is made smooth (or otherwise formed with a varying radial dimension, or a screw thread) so as to permit differential thermal contraction, in an axial direction, of the hub 22 relative to the flange 28 as the hub 22 solidifies and cools after its casting. By this means, retained stresses in the hub 22 are minimized.
Protective clutch assembly for toys and method of making the same
A clutch assembly for a toy includes a clutch disc member and an inserting member. The clutch disc member includes a central opening and a plurality of seats distributed in a circular pattern. The inserting member includes a plurality of wedges distributed in a circular pattern. The seats and the wedges are designed to (A) engage the wedges in the seats when a force exerted between a driving element operably connected to the clutch disc member and a driven element operably connected to the inserting member is less than a predetermined force level, and (B) automatically disengage the wedges from the seats when the force exerted exceeds the predetermined force level, and (C) re-engage again when the excessive force is released so as to fall below the predetermined force level after slippage of the wedges out of the seats.
BRAKE DISK AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
A method of manufacturing a brake disk made of gray cast iron is disclosed. The method includes casting a disk body using gray cast iron containing 3.1 wt % to 3.7 wt % of C; machining a surface of the cast disk body; nitriding the disk body by exposing the machined surface to a temperature in the range of 540 C. to 580 C. for 50 min to 70 min, and coating the nitrided disk body.
Low loss direct point wet clutch fluid wall system
An improved multi-disc wet clutch assembly. The improvements include an inner clutch hub having eighteen holes extending through a wall of the inner clutch hub, arranged in six series of three holes with each series being disposed approximately sixty degrees apart from each other and starting at a different position along the length of the inner clutch hub wall. The improvements further include a diaphragm plate disposed within a bore at the distal end of the inner clutch hub. Methods of retrofitting preexisting clutch assemblies are also described.
