Human rescue apparatus for vertical extraction in high temperature environments
Provided is a human rescue apparatus that comprises a pulley for vertical extraction of a human using a pulley mechanical advantages system and a fan that is powered by rotation of the pulley to generate airflow in the direction of the user so as to cool the user during vertical extraction when direct aid from rescue workers is typically unavailable. The apparatus has a core mechanism and a support structure. The core mechanism comprises a pulley wheel and a fan coaxially connected together by an axle. The core mechanism is held securely and rotatably in a support structure such that it can freely rotate but otherwise be held by the supporting structure. In some embodiments the supporting structure includes one or more passageway allowing removal of the core mechanism.
AUTOMATIC REVERSING SCREW MECHANISM FOR CABLE WINDING
A level wind mechanism includes a first screw and a second screw extending through a block. A shoe is disposed within the block between the first screw and the second screw. The shoe includes a first follower for engaging with and being driven by a thread of the first screw and a second follower for engaging with and being driven by a thread of the second screw. Each thread includes cams at the terminal ends of the thread for causing the shoe to disengage from that thread and to shift to engaging the other thread. In this way, the first screw and the second screw cause the shoe, and thus the block, to translate relative to the first screw and the second screw.

Device for evacuating individuals
The present disclosure relates to a device for evacuating individuals from a structure during an emergency, comprising: a rotatable drum with a cable suitable length, wound thereon; and a rotation regulator, which is associated with the drum and is arranged to control the drum to limit a rotation speed thereof during unwinding of the cable from the drum. The rotation regulator allows for individuals to escape from a tall structure, regardless of their skill, agility or strength, and even irrespective of whether such individuals are conscious, or not. In an embodiment the device may further comprise at least one additional drum. The combination of the drum and the additional drum allows a plurality of people to escape.

CONTROLLED DESCENT SELF-RETRACTING LANYARD
A self-retracting lanyard including a main body and a retractable line. The retractable line is coupled to the main body so as to be extendible and retractable relative to the main body and to be restricted from extending relative to the main body in response to a user of the self-retracting lanyard falling. The self-retracting lanyard further includes a manual control operable by the user to initiate controlled descent of the retractable line relative to the main body.

Fall Protection Device and Adjustment Mechanism Therefor
A fall protection device, including: a housing; a hub rotatable with respect to the housing; a line wrapped around the hub and configured to pay out from and retract into the housing, an engagement mechanism configured to prevent rotation of the hub and further payout of the line; and an adjustment mechanism configured to adjust a length of the line paid out from the housing, the adjustment mechanism comprising: (i) at least one gear attached to the housing; (ii) a pivot having a track configured to interact with the at least one gear and pivot as the at least one gear rotates; and (iii) an arm configured to urge at least a portion of the engagement mechanism causing it to move into an engagement position, to thereby prevent further rotation of the hub and payout of the line from the fall protection device.
