A loop structure includes a first element having a first loop, and a second element having a second loop, the first loop interlocking with the second loop. Each of the first and second elements include a plurality of strands, wherein at least a portion of the strands are formed from a flexible material. The strands of the first and second elements are processed in a textile-like manner into one of a braided, woven, knitted, or enmeshed structure defining at least two webs spaced-apart along a longitudinal direction of the first and second elements. The strands are divided into longitudinally extending sections between the webs, the sections forming wings that connect the webs. In the first element, the wings form the first loop, and in the second element, the wings form the second loop.

The purpose of the invention is to convert rotational motion to linear motion in a way that is superior to the traditional rack and pinion device by allowing for more surface area contact with the rack through the use of, rather than a pinion, a silent chain that is capable of engaging with a rack. The invented silent chain comprises link plates of a particular shape stacked in alternating rows and joined together by connecting pins in such a way as to be bendable. The link plates are shaped such that the teeth of the link plates are offset when the chain is straightened, which allows the profile of the silent chain to correspond with the profiles of both sprockets and racks.

Both ends of the inner stop plate are flush with axes of pin holes provided at both ends of the inner chain plates, and both ends of the outer stop plate are respectively provided with extensions beyond the outer chain plates; the extensions of the outer stop plate form a one-sided support for the inner stop plate to prevent the transmission chain from bending toward the first side, thus the transmission chain bends unidirectionally toward a second side opposite to the first side. A hoisting mechanism and a liftable roadblock having the above transmission chain are further provided.
