ROPE BASED FALL PROTECTION DEVICE
20200406073 · 2020-12-31 · ·

A rope based fall protection device including a rotation unit, a brake unit, and a rope. A first end of the rope is connected to the rotation unit. The rope includes a first rope loop and a second rope loop that are wound around the rotation unit. A first retaining portion of a retaining ring is sleeved on the first rope loop and a second retaining portion thereof is sleeved on the second rope loop, such that the rope forms a rope section which has a fixed length between the second retaining portion and the first end and is wound around the rotation unit. When a free end of the rope is pulled by an external force to release the rope wound around the rotation unit in a direction away from the rotation unit, the retaining ring is broken to release the rope section of the rope. The external force is greater than or equal to a pulling force generated by a user's free fall. By releasing the rope section of the rope, the rotation unit rotates and simultaneously drives the brake unit to rotate to slow down or stop the rotation of the rotation unit.

Integrated climb assist and fall arrest system and methods to assist users climbing ladders and vertical paths are disclosed. The integrated systems and comprise a controller connected to a user's harness, a static fall arrest cable, and a movable climb assist belt. The connection of the fall arrest components and the climb assist components may include physical connection, electronic connection, communication, or any combination thereof. The climb assist belt can be driven by a motor to provide an upwards climb assistance force to a user along a vertical path. The motor can be dynamically adjusted to continuously provide a level of climb assistance. The integrated controller is also configured to mechanically detect downwards movement and engage an overspeed braking mechanism when a threshold velocity or acceleration is detected.

Interlocking abrasion-protection device for linemen fall-prevention systems
10792522 · 2020-10-06 · ·

An interlocking abrasion-protection tool for linemen fall-prevention systems has multiple belay-assistance links which are formed into a chain. The belay-assistance links act as an abrasion-protection sheath for a section of rope that runs over a sharp edge. The belay-assistance links enable a user to lower a lineman who is incapacitated or stuck without endangering other linemen or damaging the linemen-support ropes. To accomplish this, each belay-assistance link has a pair of interlocking mechanisms and multiple rigging channels. The interlocking mechanisms are positioned on opposite sides of the belay-assistance link so that multiple links can be connected in series. The rigging channels traverse through the belay-assistance device to form a raceway for the linemen-protection ropes. The rigging channels prevent the linemen-protection rope from becoming tangled while supporting a lineman.

Fall restraint system

The present system for fall restraint includes a mounting frame connected to a trigger mechanism and firing blocks, with a trigger cable extending through apertures in the mounting frame and trigger mechanism. Sudden movement by a user, such as a fall, actuates the trigger mechanism to trigger the firing blocks. The firing blocks are loaded with anchors and firing cartridges. Triggering the firing blocks causes the cartridges to fire, propelling the anchors into an anchoring surface, such as a roof. Because the user is connected to the trigger cable, once the anchors deploy the user is anchored to the roof and their fall arrested.

A tree safety device comprising a housing, a holder attached to the housing to hold the device to a tree, an automatic breaking retractor inside of the housing, a cable, with a first end attached to the retracting device and a second end extending out of the housing, a latch attached the second end of the line, wherein the retractor allows for the cable to be fed from the housing at a rate below a predetermined speed, but automatically breaks the cable from feeding out of the housing if the rate exceeds the predetermined speed.

CLIMBING WALL COMPRISING TRACK-BASED SUPPORT HARNESS

The present invention is directed to a climbing wall comprising a climbing surface and a climbing assistance assembly that provides a disabled child with an opportunity to utilize the climbing wall. The climbing assistance assembly comprises a track mounted above at least a portion of the climbing surface and spanning at least a portion of the length of the climbing surface. A trolley, from which a rope is suspended, is configured to travel along the track. The rope is coupled both to the trolley and to a harness. The climbing assistance assembly may further include a fall arrest device configured to lower an end of the rope coupled to the harness from an elevated position to a rest position in a controlled manner. Because the trolley is configured to travel with a user wearing the harness as the user traverses a length of the climbing surface, the fall arrest device is positioned substantially directly above the user throughout the user's climbing experience, ensuring that if the user falls, the descent will occur in a safe and controlled manner.

Pass-through cable grab system
10619417 · 2020-04-14 ·

A pass-through cable grab system which allows a workman wearing a harness to move up and down a ladder on a tower or similar structure while being protected from falling by a vertically extending safety cable attached to the tower. The system includes at least one standoff bracket having a rear end secured to the tower and a forward end secured to the cable. A cable grab assembly includes a housing that can move vertically up and down the cable and further includes a brake mechanism. A lever extends from the housing and is connected to the workman through a lanyard. In the event of a fall, the lever moves downwardly activating the brake mechanism. The housing includes a vertically extending slot which allows the cable grab assembly to pass over the forward end of the standoff bracket as the cable grab assembly moves up and down. The standoff bracket also includes cam surfaces adjacent the top and bottom thereof which engage the housing as it moves toward the bracket to properly align the cable grab assembly so that it can pass over the standoff bracket.

Safety Cable Routing System

A system designed for managing safety cables utilized by technicians working on wireless communication structures. The system is designed to properly secure and route a structure's safety cable such that it does not become entangled with the appurtenances installed on the structure or damage any installed appurtenance. This system is designed to prevent the climbing facility from becoming obstructed while maintaining the integrity of the fall arrest cable system and protection of the technician from a potential hazard. The system is secured to the tower or existing and future appurtenances via brackets and clamps and is adaptable to varying types of structures and appurtenances.
