HORIZONTAL LIFELINE SHUTTLE APPARATUS
A horizontal lifeline shuttle apparatus is provided. The horizontal lifeline shuttle apparatus includes an attachment portion, a body portion, and a cable channel. The body portion is configured to at least partially surround a portion of a cable so as to retain the portion of the cable within a cable channel The attachment portion is configured to move relative to the body portion based at least in part on the motion of the moveable pin fixedly secured thereto. At least a portion of the moveable pin is disposed within each of a plurality of moveable pin guide grooves positioned within the body portion such that a range of motion of the moveable pin is defined at least in part by the plurality of moveable pin grooves. At least one of the plurality of moveable pin grooves comprises a vertical portion.
SYSTEM, METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FALL PROTECTION OF WORKERS AT A CONSTRUCTION SITE
A fall protection system can include towers configured to be coupled together with horizontal lifelines. Each tower can have a base removably coupled to a bottom of the frame. A lower slip sleeve can be slidably coupled to the base. The lower slip sleeve can have an elongate opening extending therethrough. An internal piece can be slidably received in the elongate opening and coupled to the lower slip sleeve. In addition, an upper slip sleeve can be coupled to an exterior of the internal piece such that the upper slip sleeve is not movable relative to the internal piece. Further, a mount plate can be slidably coupled to an exterior of the upper slip sleeve and mounted to a top of the frame. Finally, a stanchion can be slidably received in the upper elongate opening and coupled to the upper slip sleeve.
Fall restraint apparatus and associated systems and methods
Disclosed herein is an apparatus for preventing a user from moving beyond a first distance from a support structure. The apparatus comprises an extension member, comprising a first end and a second end that is opposite the first end. The first end is configured to be fixed to the support structure. The second end is movable relative to the first end along a plane and the second end is configured to extend away from the first end to an extended position and retract from the extended position towards the first end to a retracted position. The apparatus also comprises a flexible tether, having a fixed length and comprising an anchor end, attached to the second end of the extension member, and a user end, configured to attach to a user. The extended position is no more than a second distance away from the first end. The sum of the fixed length and the second distance is less than the first distance.
Telescopic ladder system for a vehicle, and safety system and method for securing an operator atop a vehicle or van
A telescopic ladder system includes a lower base configured to be connected to a ladder-supporting portion of a vehicle, and a ladder including a base section and a fly section operatively connected to the base section and slidable relative thereto. A supporting member is disposed at a distal end of the fly section. A security railing is connected to the distal end. The ladder has an attachment point for attaching a safety line thereto. The attachment point is disposed at one of the fly section, the supporting member and the security railing. A first actuator selectively sets an inclination angle of the ladder relative to the lower base. A second actuator selectively extends the ladder by sliding the fly section relative to the base section. A safety system and a method for securing an operator atop a vehicle or van are also contemplated.
Horizontal lifeline system and method of adjusting a horizontal lifeline system
A horizontal lifeline system includes a first termination arrangement structured to attach to a first anchor point, a second termination arrangement structured to attach to a second anchor point, a horizontal lifeline cable coupled to the first termination arrangement, a rope length adjuster attached to the horizontal lifeline cable and having a housing through which the horizontal lifeline cable can be pulled to adjust the length of the horizontal lifeline system and apply tension to the horizontal lifeline cable, and a tension limiting ratchet coupled between the second termination arrangement and the rope length adjuster and being structured to be ratcheted to increase tension applied to the horizontal lifeline cable and to provide an indication and deter further ratcheting when the tension applied to the horizontal lifeline cable reaches a predetermined tension limit.
ENERGY ABSORBER
An energy absorber comprises a base having a weakened portion, a mounting aperture, and a connecting aperture. An energy absorber assembly includes the energy absorber, an anchor member extending through the connecting aperture, a mounting bracket including an aperture, and a fastener extending through the aperture of the mounting bracket and the mounting aperture of the energy absorber.
Cut-Resistant Leading Edge Fall Arrest System and Method
A fall arrest system includes a line retraction device having a safety line, an energy absorber configured for connecting to a terminal end of the safety line, and a harness configured for connecting to the energy absorber such that the energy absorber is disposed between the terminal end of the safety line and the harness. The safety line is selected to have a predetermined mean breaking force with a first standard deviation, and the energy absorber is selected to have a predetermined mean deployment force with a second standard deviation. The mean breaking force of the safety line and the mean deployment force of the energy absorber overlap over an overlapping region of the first and second standard deviation. A ratio of an overlap mean force of the overlapping region to an overlap standard deviation of the overlapping region is less than or equal to 6.
SECURITY FALL PROTECTION DEVICE
A safety device is provided having a base positionable on the ground; a supporting structure configured to swivelling support an arm rotatable about a rotational axis; a rotational stopping means having elements connected respectively to the arm and to the supporting structure configured to cooperate each other to interrupt the rotation of the arm about the rotational axis when the intensity of a component lying on a plane passing through the rotational axis of a force applied to an anchoring point of the arm exceeds a predetermined threshold.
Shuttle device
The present invention is directed to a shuttle device for a height safety system, the device including a first member having an inner wall defining a recess, the inner wall terminating at two sides to define a first opening. The device further includes a second member received in the recess of the first member, the second member being slidable relative to the first member to facilitate movement of the device between a locked condition and an unlocked condition. In the locked condition, the second member and a side of the inner wall define a second opening, the second opening being smaller than the first opening.
Load indicator and horizontal lifeline system including the same
A load indicator includes a first connector, a second connector arranged such that pulling the first connector and the second connector in opposite directions applies tension across the load indicator, a fastener structured to attach the first connector to the second connector, a first spring structured to apply bias to the fastener to pull the first and second connectors together, and a moveable member disposed between the first and second connectors and around the fastener. When the tension across the load indicator is at or above a predetermined tension level, the first spring compresses allowing the moveable member to spin freely about the fastener. When the tension across the load indicator is below the predetermined tension level, the first spring pulls the first and second connectors together such that the moveable member cannot spin freely about the fastener.
