The hydrostatic thrust bearing comprising: a first bearing surface facing the stator; a recess geometry arranged for maintaining at least one hydrostatic pressure region for preventing the first bearing surface from contacting the stator; and, a fluid pathway between the stator and the impeller.
Spring retainer including rivets for driving springs in a torque converter damper
A spring retainer for a damper for use in a torque converter is provided. The spring retainer includes a ring including a radially extending base and a spring retaining portion radially outside of the base. The spring retaining portion includes rounded sections spaced circumferentially from each other and shoulders circumferentially between the rounded sections. Each rounded section is configured for receiving an arc spring. The spring retainer also includes rivets fixed to the shoulders. The rivets protrude axially from the shoulders into an interior of the spring receiving portion and are arranged for contacting ends of the springs. A method of forming a spring retainer is also provided.
Spring retainer including rivets for driving springs in a torque converter damper
A spring retainer for a damper for use in a torque converter is provided. The spring retainer includes a ring including a radially extending base and a spring retaining portion radially outside of the base. The spring retaining portion includes rounded sections spaced circumferentially from each other and shoulders circumferentially between the rounded sections. Each rounded section is configured for receiving an arc spring. The spring retainer also includes rivets fixed to the shoulders. The rivets protrude axially from the shoulders into an interior of the spring receiving portion and are arranged for contacting ends of the springs. A method of forming a spring retainer is also provided.
TORQUE CONVERTER TURBINE INCLUDING ADDED MASS
A torque converter turbine is provided. The torque converter turbine includes a plurality of blades, an annular bowl shaped blade supporting portion supporting the blades and a mass fixed to the blade supporting portion. A method of forming a torque converter turbine is also provided. The method includes providing a blade supporting portion of a turbine shell with mass and connecting a plurality of blades to the blade supporting portion.
TORQUE CONVERTER TURBINE INCLUDING ADDED MASS
A torque converter turbine is provided. The torque converter turbine includes a plurality of blades, an annular bowl shaped blade supporting portion supporting the blades and a mass fixed to the blade supporting portion. A method of forming a torque converter turbine is also provided. The method includes providing a blade supporting portion of a turbine shell with mass and connecting a plurality of blades to the blade supporting portion.
Washer assembly and hydrodynamic torque converter
A washer assembly and a hydrodynamic torque converter comprising the washer assembly is provided. The washer assembly comprises a washer and a plate; the washer is annular and comprises a washer body and two or more positioning clamps protruding radially inward from an inner periphery of the washer body, at least one side of the positioning clamp in a circumferential direction having a positioning protrusion protruding; the plate is annular, an inner periphery portion of the plate being provided with two or more positioning notches; an edge of at least one side of the positioning notch in the circumferential direction being provided with a positioning groove; and the washer is mounted to one end face of the plate. The washer assembly saves the internal space of the torque converter and saves the material cost of the washer.
Washer assembly and hydrodynamic torque converter
A washer assembly and a hydrodynamic torque converter comprising the washer assembly is provided. The washer assembly comprises a washer and a plate; the washer is annular and comprises a washer body and two or more positioning clamps protruding radially inward from an inner periphery of the washer body, at least one side of the positioning clamp in a circumferential direction having a positioning protrusion protruding; the plate is annular, an inner periphery portion of the plate being provided with two or more positioning notches; an edge of at least one side of the positioning notch in the circumferential direction being provided with a positioning groove; and the washer is mounted to one end face of the plate. The washer assembly saves the internal space of the torque converter and saves the material cost of the washer.
Torque converter with resolver rotor having angular and axial locking
A torque converter, including: a cover arranged to receive torque; a pump including a pump shell connected to the cover, and pump blades; a turbine in fluid communication with the pump and including a turbine shell and turbine blades; a stator including stator blades disposed between the turbine and the pump; a pump hub non-rotatably connected to the pump shell and including a first planar surface facing radially outward with respect to an axis of rotation; and a resolver rotor non-rotatably connected to the pump hub and including a second planar surface in contact with the first planar surface and facing radially inward with respect to the axis of rotation. The pump hub includes a protrusion extending radially outward from the first planar surface and in contact with the resolver rotor. The resolver rotor is arranged to determine a rotational position of the torque converter around the axis of rotation.

A torque converter, including: a cover arranged to receive torque; a pump including a pump shell connected to the cover, and pump blades; a turbine in fluid communication with the pump and including a turbine shell and turbine blades; a stator including stator blades disposed between the turbine and the pump; a pump hub non-rotatably connected to the pump shell and including a first planar surface facing radially outward with respect to an axis of rotation; and a resolver rotor non-rotatably connected to the pump hub and including a second planar surface in contact with the first planar surface and facing radially inward with respect to the axis of rotation. The pump hub includes a protrusion extending radially outward from the first planar surface and in contact with the resolver rotor. The resolver rotor is arranged to determine a rotational position of the torque converter around the axis of rotation.
