Camshaft

A camshaft may include a tube-like outer shaft and an inner shaft arranged coaxially thereto and at least partially rotatable with respect to the outer shaft. The inner shaft may have an end section with a reduced external diameter. The inner shaft may be sealed with respect to the outer shaft at the end section.

Method for arranging a camshaft in a camshaft module

A method for arranging a camshaft in a camshaft module includes arranging cam elements and a switching element on a carrier tube to so as to form a displacement element having a bearing section, outside or external to a module housing. The carrier tube is then cut in a region of a bearing section to form two parts. One of the parts is arranged into a bearing bridge in a module housing. The other part is then joined to the first part that was inserted into the bearing bridge.

Cam grinding machine and cam grinding method

In a cam grinding method, a common surface of a first cam and a second cam is acquired in a common surface setting step. In a first common surface grinding step performed after a first cam grinding step, traverse movement of a grinding wheel is performed such that the grinding wheel is aligned with an area from the first cam to the second cam while the first cam and the second cam are rotated, and the common surface is ground. In a second common surface grinding step performed after a second cam grinding step, traverse movement of the grinding wheel is performed such that the grinding wheel is aligned with an area from the second cam to the first cam while the first cam and the second cam are rotated, and the common surface is ground.

Device for manufacturing an assembled camshaft

A clamping device for manufacturing an assembled camshaft for valve-controlled internal combustion engines, in which at least one cam disc with a base circle region and cam region is machined on the running surface and has a cam-disc recess, includes shrinking the cam disc onto a corresponding shaft designed with a defined dimensional overlap by cooling the shaft and heating the cam disc. Before being shrunk onto the shaft, the at least one cam disc is clamped by the clamping device such that a tension force acts on the recess wall region, the tension force corresponding to a predetermined extent to the state of stresses and/or deformation state of the recess wall region after the operation of shrinking the cam disc onto the corresponding shaft. The running-surface machining of the at least one cam disc occurs when the cam disc is clamped by the clamping device.

Incremental deployment device

An incremental deployment device is provided. The incremental deployment device may include a first member with a slotted track having alternating deployment and braking segments, as well as a second member that is movably coupled with the first member and that includes a cam follower that is configured to travel within the slotted track. The deployment segments may be configured to allow relative movement between the first member and the second member with little resistance, whereas the braking segments may be configured to permit relative movement between the first member and the second member with much greater resistance or to not permit any relative movement between the first member and the second member at all. Thus, the first member and the second member may be allowed to accelerate relative to one another within the deployment segments, and are decelerated within the braking segments.

Pipe Grooving Device

A device for forming circumferential grooves in pipe elements uses multiple geared cam bodies mounted on a carriage which rotates about a fixed pinion. The gears engage with the pinion which causes the geared cam bodies to rotate relative to the carriage. Traction surfaces and cam surfaces on the cam bodies traverse the outer surface of the pipe element and impress a circumferential groove therein. To substantially prevent rotation of the pipe element the pitch circle diameter of the pinion equals the outer diameter of the pipe element and the pitch circle diameters of the traction surfaces equal the pitch circle diameters of the gears.

Method for machining a surface of a metal component, and metal component

A method for machining a surface of a metal component, in particular a connecting rod or a cam for a motor vehicle, including the following steps: providing a metal component which has a surface to be machined; premachining the surface to be machined; structuring the premachined surface by a laser beam in such a way that elevations but no depressions are formed as laser structures on the premachined surface with respect to the level thereof.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING A CONSTRUCTED CAMSHAFT OF AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

A method for producing a constructed camshaft of an internal combustion engine may be used in connection with a camshaft having a cam, a shaft, and an anti-friction bearing. The method may involve machining the cam, machining the shaft to produce a setting region for arranging the cam, heating the cam and the anti-friction bearing, pushing the cam onto the shaft into a preliminary position and pushing the anti-friction bearing onto the shaft into a bearing position, equalizing a temperature between the shaft, the cam, and the anti-friction bearing by cooling at least the cam, and setting the cam onto an end position by way of pushing the cam onto the setting region.
