A method for fire and smoke prevention, suppression or extinction using a composition having sodium polyacrylate and distilled water, wherein the ratio of sodium polyacrylate to distilled water is about 1 to 200, having the step of placing the composition in the path of the fire or smoke.

CURTAIN PROVIDING A BARRIER AGAINST LIGHT, NOISE, HEAT, FIRE AND ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION

The invention relates to a curtain providing a barrier against light, noise, heat, fire and electromagnetic radiations. The curtain comprises two textile layers, each having a combination of non-woven textile material and woven textile material, subjected to a fire-proofing treatment; an inner layer sandwiched between the textile layers and formed by sound insulation wool; and a cover layer adjacent to the outer side of one of the textile layers, formed by a metal selected from the group consisting of aluminum and copper. The curtain as a whole has a total thickness between 0.5 cm and 3 cm.

Closure member control system

A closure member control system for roll down smoke and/or gas barrier system includes a closure member which, when closed, maintains a spool with the barrier wound thereon within a housing. On deployment, the closure member opens and is prevented from closing by one or more cords connected to the spool.

Balancing Strip Collector for Retractable Curtain

A door assembly includes: a rotatable curtain deployment member positionable about a structure opening; a curtain panel fixed to the curtain deployment member, the curtain being movable, upon rotation of the curtain deployment member, between a retracted position and an extended position, the curtain panel having at least one portion of increased thickness; a rotatable balancing strip member configured to substantially parallel with the curtain deployment member, and configured to rotate synchronously therewith in a common rotational direction, and a balancing strip having a first end attached to the balancing strip member, and a second end attached to the curtain deployment member and axially spaced from the portion of increased thickness. When the curtain panel deploys to the retracted position, the balancing strip deploys to the curtain deployment member, and when the curtain panel deploys to the extended position, the balancing strip deploys to the balancing strip member.

Fire and/or smoke barrier

A curtain is wound on a roller (2), provided in a head box (4), mounted in a ceiling (6). The curtain is also provided with a bottom bar (10). When the curtain is drawn up onto the roller, the bottom bar (10) can be used to close the head box (4). When deployed the bottom bar provides stability to the descending curtain, and in full deployment rests on the floor. The curtain is provided with additional strips (30) of fabric, to allow ease of roll up onto the roller. The strip(s) arc attached at their top end only, to the curtain. Typically this will be by sewing (32), but also may be rivets or other form of heat resistant connection. The strip(s) are also connected to the bottom bar. A cable (34) is attached to the strip(s), usually through a rivet, but any other form of secure attachment may be used. The cable is then connected to the bottom bar, via a spring (36). This connects to keep the strip(s) in tension, to enable ease of rolling of the curtain.

Systems and methods for fire protection of horizontal interstitial spaces with expanded localized heat detection areas

Fire protection systems and methods provide for the protection of horizontal concealed interstitial spaces of either a solid wood joist, open bar joist or open truss construction system. The systems and methods provide and locate fire protection sprinklers to define localized heat detection areas that are over 1000 sq. ft., at least 2000 sq. ft., over 2000 sq. ft. and/or otherwise unconfined by draft curtains or other barriers.

A multi-layer rolling fire curtain assembly includes: a multi-layer fire curtain wrappable about a roller and to be deployable between an extended position and an open position, such that a free end of the curtain is movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The fire curtain has a fire resistant inner curtain layer having a first width between first and second lateral edges, and a fire resistant outer curtain layer arranged opposite the inner layer and having first and second scalloped lateral edges varying between the first width and a second width less than the first width. The inner and outer layers are affixed to one another by horizontally oriented connection seams at the first width, the connection seams being configured so that the outer and inner layers are spaced apart by a plurality of baggy areas formed between adjacent connection seams.
