MULTI LAYER FIRE CURTAIN

A multi-layer rolling fire curtain assembly includes: a rotatable curtain roller positionable about a structure opening; a multi-layer fire curtain wrappable about the curtain roller and to be deployable from the curtain roller between an extended position and an open position, the fire curtain having a first end fixed to the curtain roller, and a free end, the free end being movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The fire curtain has: a fire resistant inner curtain layer arranged closer to the curtain roller, and a fire resistant outer curtain layer arranged opposite the inner layer. The inner and outer layers are affixed to one another by horizontally oriented connection seams, to connect the inner and outer layers to each other, the connection seams being configured so that the outer and inner layers are spaced apart by a plurality of baggy areas formed between adjacent connection seams.

A concertina smoke or fire barrier comprising a curtain having a plurality of concertina-fold curtain webs and a plurality of concertina flanges. The flanges extend from a stitching joint between each adjacent pair of curtain webs. Normally closed door opening in the curtain, the door opening being provided by a slit extending through several of curtain webs and their flanges. Cuts in the flanges adjacent to the slit allow flange portions between the slit and the cuts to be stitched against their webs. A strip of curtain web material is stitched to the curtain webs on one side of the slit for covering it when the door opening is closed. Hook and loop fastening tape is located on both sides of the slit, one piece of the tape being stitched to the strip and another complementary piece being stitched to the curtain webs to the other side of the slit.

A multi-curtain assembly has curtain segments of a retractable curtain, the curtain segments having leading edges affixed to a bottom bar and extending between opened and closed positions by winding on and unwinding from a barrel assembly, each curtain segment being optionally connectable to the other curtain segment adjacent thereto by a fastener at respective adjacent edges of each curtain segment during unwinding. The multi-curtain assembly includes: a motor driving the barrel assembly of a first curtain segment, adjacent and further curtain segments meeting one another at an interface angle; and at least one curtain driving interface that passes along a rotational barrel driving force from the barrel assembly of the first one of the plurality of curtain segments. The driving interface being an interface for angle of 90 degrees, of less than 90 degrees, or greater than 90 degrees, or an interface for barrel assemblies at different heights.

Smoke or fire barrier for a clean room

A smoke or fire barrier (1), comprising a head box (2) which contains a roller (9). Extending from the head box are a pair of side guides (3) which guide a metallic foil curtain (5) from the roller, where it is stored, to the ground when deployed. At the bottom of the curtain (5), where it meets the ground when deployed is a bottom bar (4). The metallic foil curtain (5) is made up of individual foil panels (6). The curtain is made from a panel of stainless steel with dimples (8) across it. The dimples allow improved characteristics when rolling and being stored as it holds its shape better. The dimples also provide improved heat transfer characteristics.
