The drive device converts the drive instruction message into a load drive signal, and notifies the converted load drive signal to the ECU via the third signal line.

The control device performs a stopped range switching process in response to outputting of a signal for requiring switching of a shift range from a selection device when electric power is supplied from the sub power supply to the shift-by-wire system. In the stopped range switching process, the shift range is switched to a selected shift range when a voltage of the sub power supply is equal to or greater than a threshold value. On the other hand, the shift range is switched to a neutral range when the voltage of the sub power supply is less than the threshold value.

Methods and systems are provided for controlling engine operation in response to a request to shift a transmission gear. In one example, a method may include maintaining operating conditions of an engine and redirecting electric power generated via the engine from a traction motor to a battery in response to a request to shift a transmission while the driveline is operating in a series mode. In this way engine efficiency may be improved and a time frame for shifting a transmission gear may be reduced responsive to a gear shift request while the powertrain is operating in series mode.

The starter-generator device includes an electric machine; a gear set configured to receive rotational input from the electric machine and from the engine and to couple the electric machine and the engine in a first power flow direction and a second power flow direction. The gear set is configured to operate in one of at least a first gear ratio, a second gear ratio, or a third gear ratio in the first power flow direction and at least a fourth gear ratio in the second power flow direction. The starter-generator device further includes a dog clutch arrangement selectively coupled to the gear set to effect the first, second, and third gear ratios in the first power flow direction and the fourth gear ratio in the second power flow direction.

The invention relates to a hydraulic system for a vehicle transmission, comprising: a hydraulic circuit arranged for generating a pressure, a hydraulic actuator arranged for engaging a park lock system, wherein the hydraulic actuator is hydraulically connected to the hydraulic circuit for actuation of the hydraulic actuator using the pressure, and a back-up system configured to keep the pressure above a predetermined pressure threshold for maintaining an actuation of the hydraulic actuator for a predetermined period of time in case of an operational interruption of a transmission control unit of the vehicle.
