Smart material mechanism for fire sprinklers
A sprinkler for a fire suppression system includes a body defining an inlet and an outlet fluidly coupled to one another, a frame assembly including a frame member coupled to the body and extending away from the outlet, a deflector coupled to the frame member and offset from the outlet, a seal assembly configured to sealingly engage the body to prevent flow through the outlet, and a trigger assembly. The trigger assembly includes a shape memory alloy element configured to deform from an unactuated configuration to an actuated configuration in response to reaching an activation temperature. In the unactuated configuration, the trigger assembly directly engages both the frame assembly and the seal assembly and holds the seal assembly in sealed engagement with the body. In the actuated configuration, the trigger assembly permits the seal assembly to disengage from the body.

Automatic Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Evacuation Method and System
An automatic smoke/carbon monoxide evacuation system for a building having at least one existing ventilation fan and at least one ventilation passageway to outside the building is provided. The system includes a microprocessor and a smoke/carbon monoxide sensor coupled to the microprocessor and configured to detect presence of smoke/carbon monoxide and send a trigger signal to the microprocessor in response to detecting smoke/carbon monoxide. A power switch is coupled to the existing ventilation fan and is configured to automatically connect the existing ventilation fan to a power source in response to the trigger signal, so that the ventilation fan rotates at a high speed to ventilate the detected smoke/carbon monoxide via the existing ventilation passageway. An alarm device is further communicably coupled to the microprocessor and is configured to issue an alarm in response to the trigger signal.

Automatic Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Evacuation Method and System for a Garage
An automatic smoke/carbon monoxide evacuation system for a garage equipped with a garage door and garage door opener with a motor is provided. The system includes a microprocessor, and a smoke/carbon monoxide sensor incorporated in a garage door reverse sensor of the garage door opener and coupled to the microprocessor, and configured to detect presence of smoke/carbon monoxide and send a trigger signal to the microprocessor in response to detecting smoke/carbon monoxide. The system further includes a power switch coupled to the motor and configured to automatically connect the motor to a power source in response to the trigger signal to automatically open the garage door to ventilate the detected smoke/carbon monoxide in response to the trigger signal. An alarm device is communicably coupled to the microprocessor and is configured to issue an alarm in response to the trigger signal.
Air Replenishing Fume Hood
An air replenishing fume hood includes a cabinet, a door set, an air replenishing unit and air guiding unit. The cabinet has an inner casing defining an operating chamber and having an air inlet and an air outlet. A side of the cabinet includes an operation window. A first air passage is formed between the inner casing and the cabinet. The door set includes an outer door leaf adapted to open or close the operation window, and an inner door leaf adapted to open or close the air inlet. An end of the air replenishing unit extends into an external space via an outdoor tube, and another end of the air replenishing unit is connected to the first air passage via an extension tube. The air guiding unit includes an end connected to the air outlet, and another end extending into the external space or a collection tank.
Smoke or fire barrier
The present invention relates to a smoke or fire barrier for closing an opening in a building, the barrier including: a curtain for closing the opening; means arrangeable at a head of the opening for deploying the curtain and for retracting the curtain; guide means at sides of the opening for retaining edges of the curtain after deployment and for reducing flow of smoke past the edges of the curtain, the guide means including: a pair of jaws for holding the edges of the deployed curtain, at least one of the jaws being movable towards the other and means for moving the or each movable jaw after deployment of the curtain.
CEILING PANEL
There is provided a ceiling panel for a pod room. The ceiling panel comprises one or more cover components movable between an open configuration and a closed configuration; and an actuation mechanism configured to move the one or more cover components from the closed configuration to the open configuration in response to a trigger. The ceiling panel may provide a specified percentage open area in the open configuration. The ceiling panel may be adapted to acoustically insulate the pod room in the closed configuration.
