Work vehicle multi-speed drive assembly with clutch retention mechanism

A drive assembly for a work vehicle has a drive housing including at least one housing element forming a reaction member, a drive shaft rotatable about a drive axis, and a planetary gear set coupled to the drive shaft and configured to selectively rotate an output element. The drive assembly also includes at least one clutch arrangement having at least one clutch ring configured to selectively interact with the planetary gear set to effect a rotation speed of the output element. At least one actuator is configured to axially drive the clutch ring along the drive axis. A retention mechanism is configured to retain the clutch ring at an axial position along the drive axis. The retention mechanism includes a detent ball, a detent groove and a resilient member configured to urge the detent ball into the detent groove to retain the clutch ring at the axial position.

In this case a shifting element is present, which when actuated couples the second driveshaft with the main drive output shaft. Methods and systems are provided for a dual motor electric transmission configured with two dual synchronizers to reduce torque interruption during gear shifting. In one example, a method may include dropping torque of a first electric motor, allowing a first synchronizer to shift from a first gear arrangement to a second gear arrangement, and compensating for dropped torque with a second electric motor. The method may be repeated to shift a second synchronizer from the first gear arrangement to the second gear arrangement, allowing uninterrupted torque supply during gear shifting.

A two-stage speed-change output device includes a main axle, on which a motor assembly and first and second speed-change assemblies are mounted. The first and second speed-change assemblies are mounted inside an output shell by first and second one-way clutching elements, both operating in a forward direction. The motor assembly is operable to rotate backward to drive the first one-way clutching element to drive the output shell to rotate in the forward direction, while the second one-way clutching element idles. The motor assembly is also operable to rotate forward to drive the second one-way clutching element to drive the output shell to rotate in the forward direction, while the first one-way clutching element idles. The device realizes speed change for two stages to drive the output shell in the same direction with forward and backward rotations of the motor assembly.
