Fire and smoke compositions and the processes of making them
A method for fire and smoke prevention, suppression or extinction using a composition having sodium polyacrylate and distilled water, wherein the ratio of sodium polyacrylate to distilled water is about 1 to 200, having the step of placing the composition in the path of the fire or smoke.
LID AND TROLLEY SYSTEM FOR USE WITH FIRE TEST PAN
Systems, devices, and methods are described herein for extinguishing fires in a flammable liquid test pan. In an example, the system can include a substantially impermeable lid configured to mate with a top surface of the test pan. When the lid is mated with the test pan, the lid deprives an enclosed volume of the test pan of ambient combustible gas. The lid can be made of one or more materials including metals, ceramics, Kevlar, and other gas-impermeable and fire resistant materials. The system can include a vehicle configured to carry the lid from a first location that is distal to the test pan to a second location that is adjacent to the test pan. In an example, the vehicle includes a lid transfer device that facilitates transferring the lid from the vehicle to the top surface of the test pan.
METHOD OF TREATING SILICA FABRIC
A method of treating silica fabric blankets to enhance the material from high temperatures and fire. The method comprising the steps of: coating a silica fabric blanket with dry superabsorbent polymer, storing the coated blanket in a water proof container, hydrating the coated blanket with water and covering a person or object with the hydrated coated blanket to provide enhanced protection to the person or object from high temperatures and fire.
FIRE MITIGATION DEVICE AND METHODS OF USE
A fire mitigation device may comprise a mesh screen of interlocking wires, with the purpose of protecting against all of radiant heat, embers, and direct flame, each of which may be present during a wildfire event. The wire mesh screen may be pre-framed or cut from a roll. The wire mesh screen may be placed or fitted over vents or other orifices of a structure, wrapped around a structure or feature to screen it in, or placed in a free-standing manner around a feature or structure in order to protect it from damage due to wildfire.
STANDALONE ELECTRIC VEHICLE FIRE SUPPRESSION PARKING BARRIER
A fire suppression parking barrier to prevent the spread of a vehicle fire is disclosed, including at least one barrier frame assembly and a fire suppression material slidingly engaged over the at least one barrier assembly. A cover slidingly engages over the fire suppression material. The fire suppression parking barrier is capable of preventing the propagation of a fire to other nearby vehicles in a parking area.
Fire barrier, a method for installing the same, an expansion joint system and a fire barrier assembly
The presently claimed invention relates to a fire barrier, a method for installing the same, an expansion joint system and a fire barrier assembly.
Materials and methods for modifying Wolbachia and paratransformation of arthropods
The present disclosure is directed to materials and method for genetically modifying Wolbachia, as well as arthropods comprising the modified Wolbachia.
Fire protection curtain
A fire protection curtain having a curtain panel that includes an outer wall and a chimney defining an inlet disposed on a first side of the chimney and an outlet on another side of the chimney. The chimney is in heat conductive association with the outer wall such that heat from a source outside the outer wall is transmitted to the chimney. Such heat transmission can cause the chimney to draw air into the inlet and expel the air out the outlet by chimney effect. The curtain is flexible and sufficiently large for covering at least a portion of a structure to protect the structure from an external fire.
Fire suppression blanket
A blanket for fighting grass and scrub fires along a fire line includes a sheet of fire resistant material forming a lattice with multiple openings. The openings vary in size from larger openings along the sheet's front edge to smaller openings at the sheet's back edge, and vary in size across the lattice to form parabolic-shaped burn zones that separate a fire burning into the blanket, dissipating its energy. The blanket is a rectangular sheet of woven fire resistant fiberglass strips coated in vermiculite and is flexible for rolling, with connectors securing the woven strips together at points of overlap. The sheet can be placed atop or near grass or scrub at risk of burning, arranged with the front edge toward the fire and the back edge away from the fire. Once the burning risk passes, the sheet or sheets may be removed and rolled up for storage or transport.
