SEALING RING ASSEMBLIES CONFIGURED FOR PRESSURE LOCKING
20230072947 · 2023-03-09 ·

A sealing ring includes a first sealing element having a first mating surface and a second sealing element having a second mating surface. A high-pressure boundary extends across at least a portion of the first sealing element and across at least a portion of the second sealing element, and a low-pressure boundary extends across at least a portion of the first sealing element and across at least a portion of the second sealing element. The first mating surface, the second mating surface, or both, includes a recess open to the low-pressure boundary and not open to the high-pressure boundary. The recess may include a groove, for example. The first mating surface is sealed against the second mating surface by a first force acting on the first sealing element and a second force acting on the second sealing element. These forces act to pressure-lock the assembly.

Actuator with screw-in gland and detent structure

A fluid actuator includes housing defining a cylinder bore and first and second fluid passages. A circumferential detent groove extends into the housing from the cylinder bore. The cylinder bore receives a piston having a top face and a skirt in sliding engagement. A circumferential detent ring groove extends radially inwardly into the skirt. The detent ring groove has a first portion of a first depth and a second portion of a second, greater depth. An o-ring is at least partially received in the second portion. A wear ring is at least partially received in the first portion and overlies the o-ring. The o-ring biases the wear ring outwardly of the detent ring so that the wear ring may be selectively engaged with the detent groove.

A piston of a cylinder of an internal combustion engine includes: a piston skirt; a grooved ring belt on a first axial side of the piston skirt, the ring belt grooves being limited by, and separated from one another by, ring lands, the ring grooves for receiving a piston ring; and an oil collection channel between the piston skirt and the ring belt. The oil collection channel has a greater depth than in the circumferential position of a coupling side of the piston and/or in the circumferential position of a coupling opposite side of the piston. The oil collection channel has a gradient, the gradient emanating from an axial depth in a region of the coupling side and/or of the coupling opposite side in the direction of the axial depth in the region of the pressure side and/or of the pressure opposite side.

Piston comprising a piston head cooled by splash lubrication

A piston of an internal combustion engine may include a piston head, a piston hub and a connecting rod having a joint end connected via an articulated connection to the piston hub. A reservoir may be provided and configured to receive splash oil for cooling the piston head. The reservoir may include at least one splash outlet directed towards the piston head. The reservoir may be arranged at the joint end of the connecting rod on a side facing towards the piston head.

Axial piston device

A housing of an axial piston device is provided with a drain port for discharging the retained oil to the outside and a supply oil passage for guiding lubricating oil, which has been supplied from an oil source, toward a first hydraulic axial piston member. The drain port is arranged so as to bring about such a retained-oil level that a second hydraulic axial piston member, which is disposed below the first hydraulic axial piston member, is partially or entirely immersed in the retained oil while the first hydraulic axial piston member is not immersed in the retained oil.
