A piston of a cylinder of an internal combustion engine includes: a piston skirt; a grooved ring belt on a first axial side of the piston skirt, the ring belt grooves being limited by, and separated from one another by, ring lands, the ring grooves for receiving a piston ring; and an oil collection channel between the piston skirt and the ring belt. The oil collection channel has a greater depth than in the circumferential position of a coupling side of the piston and/or in the circumferential position of a coupling opposite side of the piston. The oil collection channel has a gradient, the gradient emanating from an axial depth in a region of the coupling side and/or of the coupling opposite side in the direction of the axial depth in the region of the pressure side and/or of the pressure opposite side.

The piston skirt may have a surface including a concave face window. A connection between the face window and the ring groove may form a residual ring bank. The oil return hole may be formed by milling on the residual ring bank. The oil return hole may connect the ring groove close to the piston skirt with the face window. A depth of the oil return hole may be greater than a depth of the ring groove.

Openings at the bottom of the circumferential groove and between a front land of the open-faced piston and the piston face are provided. The openings are arranged to allow for a combustion reaction to propagate through the volume defined between the bottom of the piston ring assembly and the piston face such that at least a portion of an air and fuel mixture located in that volume is reacted.

An internal combustion engine includes a hollow cylinder, a piston within the hollow cylinder, and a cylinder head. A base valve assembly at a base of the hollow cylinder permits or restricts fluid flow from an intake manifold into a sub-chamber below the piston. The piston includes at least one intake port connecting a combustion chamber above the piston with the sub-chamber, and a transfer valve that opens and closes the at least one intake port. When the transfer valve opens the at least one intake port, fluid is permitted to flow from the sub-chamber to the combustion chamber. The internal combustion engine operates according to a four-stroke piston cycle, wherein multiple intake stages are provided. The intake stages may include intake of air into the sub-chamber during a compression stroke, transfer of air from the sub-chamber to the combustion chamber during a power stroke, intake of air-fuel mixture into the sub-chamber during an exhaust stroke, and transfer of air-fuel mixture from the sub-chamber to the combustion chamber during an intake stroke.

Multipart balanced piston clutch

A clutch assembly for a transmission of an agricultural work vehicle. The clutch assembly includes a housing, a clutch pack located within the housing, a piston chamber located within the housing, and a multipart piston located within and slidable relative to the piston chamber. The multipart piston is operably connected to the clutch pack for engaging and disengaging the clutch pack. The multipart piston includes a lower piston extension part. The clutch assembly further includes a balance chamber that is located within the housing. The lower boundary wall of the balance chamber and the lower boundary wall of the piston chamber are radially separated from one another by a substantial distance. The lower piston extension part is located within the balance chamber for adding to a collective surface area of the balance chamber.

Multipart balanced piston clutch

A clutch assembly for a transmission of an agricultural work vehicle. The clutch assembly includes a housing, a clutch pack located within the housing, a piston chamber located within the housing, and a multipart piston located within and slidable relative to the piston chamber. The multipart piston is operably connected to the clutch pack for engaging and disengaging the clutch pack. The multipart piston includes a lower piston extension part. The clutch assembly further includes a balance chamber that is located within the housing. The lower boundary wall of the balance chamber and the lower boundary wall of the piston chamber are radially separated from one another by a substantial distance.
