The plurality of planar portions is arranged such that a force (e.g., a torque) applied to the body is directed toward the plurality of teeth.

A rotary pneumatic seal may have a ring-shaped inner radial seal with an inner lip extending in an axial direction, an outer lip extending in the same axial direction, a connecting flange connecting the inner lip and the outer lip, a pneumatic sealing lip, and an oil sealing lip. The rotary pneumatic seal may also have a ring-shaped outer radial seal located radially outward from the inner radial seal. The outer radial seal may also have a first wall extending in an outward radial direction, a second wall extending in an opposite inward radial direction, a central flange connecting the first and second walls, and a dust lip.

Turbocharger compressor oil deflector and method

A turbocharger includes a two-piece thrust collar that includes inner and outer portions disposed around a rotatable shaft. The inner portion is engaged with a bushing disposed in and connected to the center housing by a retainer. The outer portion is disposed adjacent the inner portion along the rotatable shaft and connected to the rotatable shaft such that it rotates therewith. The outer portion forms an annular channel that extends in a radial direction relative to the rotatable shaft and peripherally around the shaft. An oil deflector is connected to the compressor back-plate and includes a base flange and a raised portion disposed at least partially over the annular channel.

Systems and methods are presented for sealing a higher pressure fluid cavity from a lower pressure fluid cavity in a rotating machine. The cavities are at least partially disposed between a rotatable shaft and a housing. The seal assembly comprises a runner mounting assembly, a circumferential ceramic runner, a carbon seal ring, and an annular seal member. The carbon seal ring is sealing engaged with the housing and at least a portion of the runner to thereby form a boundary between the higher pressure fluid cavity and the lower pressure fluid cavity. The annular seal member is coupled to the housing axially displaced from the seal ring in the lower pressure fluid cavity. The seal member has a curvilinear face surface that engages the runner.

The present technology is generally directed to vent stack lids and associated systems and methods. In particular, several embodiments are directed to vent stack lids having improved sealing properties in a coke processing system. In a particular embodiment, a vent stack lid comprises a first lid portion proximate to and at least partially spaced apart from a second lid portion. The vent stack lid further comprises a first sealing portion coupled to the first lid portion and a second sealing portion coupled to the second lid portion. In several embodiments, the second sealing portion at least partially overlaps the first sealing portion over the space between the first and second lid portions. In further embodiments, at least one of the first or second sealing portions includes layers of tadpole seals, spring seals, rigid refractory material, and/or flexible refractory blanket.

A seal that can be used alone or as a containment seal for another seal includes a primary ring (36) and a mating ring (30), the primary ring being axially shiftable relative to a rotating shaft (12) and the mating ring being axially fixable relative to the rotating shaft, a biasing mechanism (500) that urges the primary ring toward the mating ring, and an annular flexible sealing membrane (100). The membrane includes a flange portion (102) disposed at least partially between the biasing mechanism and the primary ring, a coaxial portion (104) that is axially fixable relative to the shaft, and a flexible connection portion (106) positioned within a radially inward extent of the flange portion and connecting the flange portion to the coaxial portion. At least one of the mating ring and the primary ring includes grooves formed on a face thereof that cause the formation of a gas film to develop between the primary ring and the mating ring that keeps the primary ring and the mating ring from contacting each other in operation.

Pressure balanced seal assembly

A seal assembly in an apparatus including a housing, a housing bore defined by the housing, a shaft extending through the housing bore, and a shaft bore defined by the shaft. The housing bore includes an annular seal chamber between the housing and the shaft. The seal assembly includes a flexible tubular seal surrounding the shaft within the seal chamber. The tubular seal has a shaft end sealingly connected with the shaft and a housing end sealingly connected with the housing. The tubular seal divides the seal chamber into an interior seal chamber which is sealed from an exterior of the housing and an exterior seal chamber which is sealed from an interior space of the housing. At least one seal pressure balancing port is defined by the shaft and extends between the shaft bore and the exterior seal chamber.

O-ring gland for downhole tool

A downhole tool body includes an outer surface having at least one O-ring gland. The at least one O-ring gland includes a first contour having a first radius greater than about 0.035″ (R0.89 mm) and a second contour having a second radius greater than about 0.035″ (R0.89 mm). A backup ring is arranged in the O-ring gland. The backup ring includes a gland contour having a radius that is complimentary to the first radius.
