A metallic sealing assembly between a rotating shaft and a fixed frame comprises: a flexible metallic seal having two tori, inner and outer, that are concentric and of different average diameters, comprising a metal envelope which encases and holds the inner and outer tori; a shaft rotating about an axis of rotation, comprising an annular shoulder against which the seal comes to press; a counter-face, comprising a contact face against which the seal comes to press; a wedge block positioned around the rotating shaft such that the seal is held between the wedge block and the contact face, the wedge block mounted to slide on the rotating shaft; a metal part which forms a cap through which the rotating shaft passes and which is secured to the frame and/or to the counter-face, the rotating shaft being free to rotate with respect to the cap and axially secured to the cap.

The present invention provides a dust cover which is provided between an engine room and the driver's seat such that, when a steering shaft provided under a steering wheel of a vehicle is installed passing through a vehicle frame, the steering shaft passes through the dust cover. The dust cover is characterized by comprising: a pair of bearings coupled to the steering shaft; a pair of bearing races provided to surround outer circumferential surfaces of the bearings; a ring-shaped fixing cap forcibly inserted into the bearing races through both sides of an opening by interference fitting, thereby fixing the bearings; and an integrally formed seal part having through-holes to which the bearing races are coupled.

An integrated protection component for a sealing ring and associated sealing system for a vehicle transmission component, including a plug that can be inserted inside the sealing ring and an annular element for protecting the sealing ring during insertion of a rotating shaft is provided. The annular element includes a flange-shaped end and a tubular side wall that directly comes into engaging contact with the sealing ring and receives inside it the rotating shaft. The first end being provided with a handle, the plug engaging in a removable manner with the annular element and the tubular side wall being provided with a first weakened zone formed longitudinally alongside a second, radially formed, weakened zone of the first end so as to break following a pulling force exerted manually on the handle.

Magnetic seal system

A magnetic seal system adapted for use between a support structure and a rotatable shaft. The seal system includes a rotating annular seal assembly surrounding the shaft and rotating therewith, which includes an annular seal, and a non-rotating biasing assembly sealingly mounted to the support structure around the shaft and axially engaging the annular seal assembly. The biasing assembly includes an annular magnet unit axially displaceable relative to the shaft and supported surrounding the shaft. The annular magnet unit exerting an attracting force on the annular seal assembly to biasingly displace the annular magnet unit towards the annular seal. A bias member unit is also provided for non-magnetically biasing the annular magnet unit axially relative to the shaft towards the annular seal. Adjacent contacting surfaces between the annular seal and the annular magnet unit biasingly contact one another to form a sealing interface therebetween.

A magnetic seal system adapted for use between a support structure and a rotatable shaft. A fluid powered rotary actuator having a first member which is pivotally connected to a second member and which is includes at least one toroidal shaped spear or piston which acts within a correspondingly shaped toroidal shaped cylinder to move the first member relative to the second member. The or each toroidal shaped spear or piston and cylinder assembly includes seals mounted within a seal carrier and the configuration allows movement of the seals relative to the or each cylinder. This configuration allows the seals to continue to provide a leak resistant hydraulic seal between each toroidal shaped spear or piston and its associated cylinder even in cases where the toroidal shaped spears or pistons deflect relative to their associated cylinders. The cylinders are also mounted to the first or second members in a manner designed to reduce the chance of tensile cracking due to deflection of the cylinders.

Geared turbofan engine and spline arrangement

A geared turbofan engine that has a planetary gearbox which couples a fan shaft and a turbine shaft to each other. The planetary gearbox includes a sun gear that is driven by the turbine shaft. The turbine shaft and the sun gear form a spline shaft connection that is lubricated with oil. Sealing means are provided, sealing off the oil in the toothing area of the spline shaft connection. The sealing means have an elastic sealing ring that has a variable diameter and is springing outwards, and that is arranged inside a groove extending in the circumferential direction of the turbine shaft, wherein the sealing ring abuts at an inner circumferential surface of the sun gear with its radially outer circumferential surface. In further aspects, the invention relates to a method for mounting a planetary gearbox on a turbine shaft and to a spline arrangement.
